FYI,   popping a lot on deceleration can be a sign of leaking exhaust at the head

Also, popping on decel is a symptom of the low end being lean. The throttles are closed, or closing, so its the low end, like the idle or pilot or maybe the needles, that are lean.

Ok guys, sorry to bump an old thread.

I know on some forums, people get reamed for digging up old threads, I've had it done to me... I for one, think you are doing what you're supposed to be doing by searching and posting to old threads.  It really helps to keep the forum alive and makes the original poster and subsequent posters feel like they said something of value.

Yeah, we are usually just giving people guff for reviving threads, nothing more. I would rather have someone take the time to read the manual, do a good search on their question subject and come to us with a question instead of playing 20 or more questions on something they could have easily looked up.

Ehh, maybe it's not as sealed as I thought it was.

Ok, just took some quick pics of my junky bike. Still dirty from riding in the rain on Friday!

If anyone wants any more angles of the exhaust, let me know.

Nice ride, especially the ammo boxes. Very clever.

Thanks!

It's definitely a beater, but normally runs way better than it looks. The ammo boxes serve as a cheap, waterproof way to store stuff. They work great and are lockable.

I just took it out for a spin, it ran way better than it did on Friday. Such is the nature of carbs. It is due for a rebuild/cleaning/re-jet, I think.

I am taking SOHC Digger up on his carb rebuild service, will report back after he's finished in a few weeks.

He is recommending a full rebuild, something that has never been done on this bike to my knowledge, and a change to a 115 main jet to compliment my new exhaust. Then fine tuning from there.

I think that will really wake the bike up, the bike has run well most of the time in the past, but the carbs have never been perfect. But then again all I've done is the carb cleaner/guitar string cleaning method, and a bench sync done by a friend.

I still really like this exhaust. Very nice burble at idle, and very smooth power delivery. It's louder than stock, obviously, but not obnoxious. I live in a condo complex and it's not loud enough that I'm embarrassed to fire it up. (I try to be conscious of the neighbors.)

Fitment is spot on as well, no headaches there. Would definitely recommend it. And the ground clearance is nice compared to a Kerker 4-1, for example.

John, the exhaust looks a LOT better on your bike than it did on mine.  Follows the lines a little better.  Very nice!  Parts are ordered for your rebuild!

Thanks! And thanks for working with all my dumb questions. This bike is sort of a side hobby, I get briefly educated on it, then I promptly forget what I've learned!

Yeah, this exhaust is well suited to the stock lines, in my opinion. I'm sure it looks great on a cafe style as well, though.

Anyways, I'm excited to see how she runs after the tune up.
