Its good,I may build another baffle to see how much difference it will make, but otherwise It makes the bike get up and go and its got a nice growl, its not too pretty but it performs, and it was worth $300.I put a freshly oiled K&N filter in the original airbox, lifted the needle a bit,110's.There is a bit of a flat spot 4500-5000,but I've dealt with that before and can usually tune it to almost get rid of it.

Can you post a pic of your bike with the Carpy pipe fitted mate? I've seen lots of pics on this thread of pipes leaning against walls, but no bikes with one fitted? (apart from a 550, but I wanna see one on a 750) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Bart I'm running the k&n air filter with 105's I had 115 110 and 100.   105 worked the best

So I just sent my pipes off for the high temp coating, I went with a satin finish, the guys told me don't go with black because it scratches easily and stains.

While the exhaust if off I am doing the obvious changing the oil, but my exhaust studs are old rusty and slightly bent. I am reading posts here about replacing them, and I used my impact driver and got them out no problem, the question is what do I use to replace them. My first choice was chrome allen bolts,so far I had used them om the bike to replace several parts, but reading this thread I'm thinking I should stay with studs.

Is chrome a bad idea?
where can I get new studs at??

The Stud is listed by Honda as a discontinued part, but my local Honda dealer went in back and found 8 of them for me. He said they used the studs until like 85 on some bikes.  Sometimes going to a dealer beats the Internet, sure i paid 2.50 a stud bu i knew immediately it was the right part.

Bart, I went two 3 hardware stores, they had #6 metric bolts that will fit, but I wanted the double threaded posts. I'm jealous of 75 cents, I should of stuck in there in the hardware search.

If you a CB 550 with an oiled K&N replacement air filter, 105 jets will take away the flat spot, i think. Its really trial and error.

105's on a CB750, even with a stock airbox, will be too lean with that pipe. I have a genuine Yoshimura pipe on my 836, and sure, the engine has had a lot of mods and I ran one of Tintops "Antipods" before changing back to K&N pods, but I'm running 130's on the stock carbs. I'd suggest that you start at 115 or 120 and see where you go from there. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry, what did you do to you Henry Abe wheels to get them to look so nice? I just bought a '74 with the same wheels, but they don't look (yet) as nice as yours... also where did you get the engine covers... very nice!

G'Day mate, the HA's were "as bought" from a guy on EBay a couple of years ago. Close up they weren't as clean and I thought about getting them blasted and powdercoated, but I sold them a couple of weeks ago to a guy in Japan for just over $1100 US, and I've replaced them with Borrani rimmed spoked wheels.

If you want to sell yours let me know and I'll give you his contact details, I think he must have a bike business because he bought a set from Tom Courtney in England as well, and he gave me a list of stuff that he buys. The finned covers came from EBay too, those points covers are really hard to find, so whenever I see one I buy it right away! Cheers, Terry. ;D

#$%* if I'm buying unfinished crapys

Call me cheap, but I can find much better ways to spend $300

Maybe I'm just not in the loop

I don't have an issue with spending 300 on a set of pipes, I paid $700 for the last system I bought for a CB750 (albeit, it was chrome plated, and over here chrome is really expensive) but there's nothing wrong with being cheap either.

The genuine Yoshi on my bike was a freebie that another Honda 750 friend gave me, he bought it new "back in the day" but took it off because he got sick of trying to service his bike with no centrestand. I saved it from the dumpster, and there are plenty of years of noisy fun left in it, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Can someone with one of his 550 pipes measure the O.D. of the muffler portion of the pipe? I'm trying to figure out a way to use a hanger back there but need to know how big the pipe is.

Keep the stand, use it for servicing with pipes off.  Its easy to toss back on for that.

harbor freight has cheap stands for bikes... Or you can get some premium ones ...pitbull makes some of the best stands I've ever used but there a bit pricey.

Hi Terry,
Any particular reason you switched back to K&N from the antipods?  I only recently went through part of that thread and seem to recall that you had the bike running pretty godd with them at one point?

Yeah mate, the Antipod is great, but the rubbers on my "Pre-Production" model are so soft they were impossible to clamp back on the carbs so I got cranky with it and left it off and installed a set of K&N Pods. The Antipod works better, but I can live with the K&N's. Cheers, Terry. ;D
