400F Airbox pictures please
« on: April 15, 2012, 01:17:30 PM »
As I am reassembleing my 400F after months of being apart,I have aparntly not labled the hoses very well.
Bike bandits illustration didnt help much so I was hoping I could see some pictures here of where the tubes all go to on the motor.
I believe the one from the cam cover just goes to atmosphere,Im not sure about the two on the bottom of the filter box,but I am particularly concerned about the one from the bottom of the housing right on the carbs.
I wouldnt want it to suck up dust there.

The one on the housing next to the carbs is a drain, it is a tapered hose with a foam element inside & it should run out to the floor behind the engine.

As for the others, it sounds like you have got the plastic breather housing installed on the bottom of the airfilter box, right? Often that is done away with & the hose from the cam cover left to atmosphere, but it should go onto that with a drain to the floor on that too.

Thanks
The drain off the carburetters was my biggest concerned.I didn't realize it has a filter,I feel better about that, and now believe I have it routed correctly after what you have said.

Yes I still have the breather housing.
I thought the breather vent went to the atmosphere, but I have a three inch hose left that I didn't understand.

Like I said, the unfiltered one near the carbs (drain) was my biggest concerned before riding it. Thanks
