Topic: My build & engine painting

First, I have a question about engine painting.  I got a quote for ceramic coating of $425 for my engine.  This is out of my budget so I am looking at alternatives.  I know that paint and powder coat does not dissipate heat as well as ceramic but what is the real impact?  As you can see from the pics below, the bike is not a cafe or performance bike, but a chopper so I will just be cruising with it.  Has anyone powder coated an engine?  My quote to powder coat all other pieces of the bike was $325, so I'm thinking adding the engine to that job would add too much to the price.  What about high temp engine enamel?  Any thoughts or previous experiences would be much appreciated.

What'd you do with that original tank?  I'd be interested if you haven't ditched it already.

You might wanna add "Spraymax" to your upcoming searches. It's a two part clear that comes in a can. It (supposedly) will resist gasoline, etc. much better than the VHT or other rattle-can applications you put on there.

I haven't used it myself, but I'm going to when the time comes.

Read the same that the spraymax will resist gas where others won't from my readings...not from experience;)

Digger, I traded the tank to a guy for the rear wheel and tire that are in the pics.

I dont think it has the heat resistance needed to last for engine applications.
