Hondaman needs help!
« on: June 03, 2006, 10:19:45 PM »
Need some hard-to-find (it seems) parts: some 1st oversize (.25mm oversize) rings for CB750K0-5. My K2 lost a ring (broke) in a flying wrench accident today while I was turning the engine upright to finish assembling it.  :'(  That's what happens when you have to work on the floor because the garage is full of stuff...grrrr....

I prefer Honda's own rings, as they are Honda pistons, not Wiseco or other. I can pay $$ or swap parts, need rings QUICK! Summer's a-wastin'.

Help.  :(

K7 rings won't fit?

http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=10428.0

Since the K7 pistons are the "F" pistons (in my understanding), the CR is different. Usually, Honda changed ring faces for different CR, all the way back to the Honda 90 of the 1960s. So, I don't want to jump in to try it without having them in my hand for close-up comparisons first.

I can't vouch personally for this EBay seller, howerver he does have good feedback.

Thanks, Mike: I contacted him to check the top ring for the ".25" marking that ensures it really is the .25mm oversize. He didn't seem very sure.

I think the K7 are the same as the late F1 rings which means they are slightly thinner.
The thinner compression rings measure 1.18mm and the earlier thicker rings measure about 1.45mm.
Sorry cannot help with any rings

Thanks, Clyde, that's just the sort of thing Honda does!

Phone TOTAL SEAL. Mic the pistons for ring width and they will fix you up. Reasonable prices for machining the pistons too. I had a 67mm set cut for 1.8mm Oil rings IO 1.5mm and I think it was only $224 for the machining, rings and shipping. (complete ring sets) It was something like $10 for the setup and $2 a cut or some ridiculously low number like that?
