Piston ring to cyl wall tolerance. .50 cycle x piston kit
« on: March 30, 2012, 06:41:35 AM »
I just got my jugs back from the machine shop. I noticed they never removed the rings from the package to check the end gap in the piston rings. I am getting a reading of .012 in in the ring gap. on the compression and scavenger ring. Thoughts ? 74 cb750

Measured 1in from top and 1in from bottom. Honda says the servive limit is .0276in. Hondaman says .0008"/.0010 with a re bore.

That will be fine. What is the piston/cyl wall clearance?

Not sure. How are you supposed to measure the tolerance? Curved feeler gauge? I have the pistons in the jugs now is there any way to measure them without removal? thanks. Ken at Cycle-X said the ring gaps on his overbores are 0.012".
