400f headlight / starter switch dilemma
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:51:09 AM »
Let me preface this by saying I hate dealing with electrical gremlins...hate it...also, I'm a complete dummy when it comes to this stuff.

Like most 400f owners, I have a disintegrated starter button on my right hand control switch...and the stupid headlight is tied into the starter button. My headlight had always kind of worked intermittently, now it officially does not come on at all. A little scary even when I just rode the bike down the street last night to put it into my garage...

Anyway, I've seen a few threads here where people have had similar problems, and have jumped some wires in that mess under the tank to bypass the starter button. I very well could have missed it entirely, but I didn't see anyone mention exactly which two wires I need to jump to do this...can someone explain it to me?

Any help is much appreciated

When I put my toggle switch in, I just followed the wires from were they exited the handle bars. Then I just unplugged the appropriate connectors, and plugged in my toggle using bullet connectors. I wound up mounting the toggle to the left of the headlight bucket. I used a goggles that had a momentary in one position and a always on in another.
