So the next problem is as follows

The new conrods are rubbing on the bottom of the barrels

Do I trim the bottom of the barrel sleeves

Or
Shave some off the con rods , however they have all been balanced ??

Please help

I would think it would be better to shave the barrels and try to keep all the strength you can in those rods. I'm not an expert though that just makes sense in my head. The bottom end of the barrels aren't subject to a lot of load ... the rods are.

Thanks Iron, I've just got a text back from my engineer and he suggests the same.

So that's what I'll be doing. Hopefully

So I notched the 2+3 sleeves but notice a slight rubbing from the 1+4

So I ended up notching all 4

Engine now turns over freely

Onto the next problem that turns up lol  :D

What am I missing here? Did you just cut it and put in a sleeve with Allen screws to hold it in? Pardon me for being dense  ;D

Interesting ... I'm also an engineer. lol

Just make sure those edges are deburred so the rings don't catch on them as you're installing the cylinders.

I agree; make that 2 engineers.  There must be a joke there somewhere.  ;)

As IW advised, make sure the inner edge of the sleeve is carefully chamfered \ deburred, as it would suck to catch a ring, or more likely, scratch the ring surface during assembly, and end up with compromised ring seal.

^^^ Gordons Frame Kit.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Well I have built up the engine to getting the cam in. I have managed to get the timing right. I think. But when I have gone to put the can wheel onto the cam the cam chain is too tight

I have not installed the cam tensioner yet!

Any ideas. I'm hoping it not the cam chain come off at the bottom on the crank. I have turned the engine over and the cam chain does move.

Any ideas please.

Now bear with me. If you've been following my thread you'll see I'm a complete idiot an new to engine building

I thought I had the cam in the right way, but when I came to do the valve adjustments I noticed that the no 4 port where down when the cam love is up. Should the no.1 lobes be down??
