H O S E D!!!
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:59:21 AM »
Title says it all! Somehow my oil line came loose and my chain chewed it up!  Worst part is,Honda NO LONGER makes the part! What to do? I guess that's why the gal in the VW BUG was honking at me.

Ya might need to be a little more specific as to what line got roached, reference a part number and show another wider shot photo.
What are the metal shavings from?

Dukie, my bad on the part #. I should have asked the dealership. They are searching,no guarantees though. As for the metal shavings, I believe that is the result of my flash on my camera phone. The pic was taken after I had washed her. I had oil everywhere and I wanted to clean it. I also checked eBay with no results. My father in law is in sales at Parker Haniflin,I may have him stop by to see if he could be of any help. He may have something comparable at his store. The line that was severed was the line from the oil tank to the rear of the engine. There is a bracket or stay for the hose to rest in on the frame as the chain passes over to its left. I am unsure how that came out. Imo that hose was longer than it should have been.

I think it's just a crankcase vent. It relieves the blow-by from the crankcase and allows the pressure equalize.

can you replace with just a 1/2 or 3/8 hose can't remember what size.or do you want it to be a oem kind of thing. my oil tank on my 750 chopper has regular hoses i have had no problems with them so far.

"as the chains passes over to it's left"? Can you tell us what bike you have and the part number you're trying to find? This really doesn't look that difficult. You should be able to buy that off bulk roll. If you have one of the emission canisters and that's the bottom drain tube I can possibly help with that too.

Check you oil level!!!
Go get a hose. ANY hose from auto parts place.

Forget HONDA.

From now on when someone honks- check your lights and your bike.
I have see people driving a black car in the rain with no lights and flashed my lights 3 times and they gave me the finger. You just cannot reach some people.LOL....lol

Thanks fellas I will pull it off and I'm headed to NAPA in the morning. I thought it was a little more serious than what it is. Curious though,is that hose a crank case breather hose, and if so why so much oil?  I generally park my bike on carpet,on top of the carpet there is cardboard. There is quite a bit of oil.I did check my oil level and it is low , I picked some up after my sons baseball practice. Thanks everybody! Bummer Honda does not make it anymore, prolly cheaper at NAPA.

The horns honking drive me nuts!  I heard the horn and checked my mirrors, in my mind I thought she may have known the other car driving in the opposite direction. Small town living I guess. You are right though. I stopped at a 4 way stop and gave her time to at least yell at me, for what I didn't know, she just kept to her self and drove off.
