K2 paint job
« on: April 03, 2012, 04:01:56 PM »
My lovely wife and I painted my 1977 550F the factory color fresh from 66 color in Joplin Mo. I bought 2 cans of color  and put 8 coats of the candy red on and it did not look too good. We let it cure for 15 days (actually the decals were lost in the mail).  Today my wife and I put 8 coats of clear coat on the bike and it is now curing covered in my garage.  No entry for 2 days but it sure was beautiful to see.  It is a great match for the original candy red and it went on nicely.   2 cans and 8 coats and I want to go look at it but I will wait for Thursday.  Pictures coming soon

It's not too early to take a DA buffer with yellow pad and some anti-swirling compound to it. That will bring out the mirror finish.
