Slim Rear End of CB550
« on: April 03, 2012, 09:27:29 AM »
I want to change the rear on my CB550 because that is my least favorite part of my bike after I have completed it. I ditched the wrap around seat bar and the blinkers that hung on to them. The blinkers are now mounted to the side of the tail light which I did has a quick job and I am now happy with it anymore.

I want to slim down the rear so that I only have two lights on each side of the bike under the rear seat right at the end of the frame. I want to completely do away with the tail light section that hangs onto the fender. My question is how would I wire it up. I can not think of a way to wire up the two lights to act as a blinker, running light, and brake light. '

This is kinda the only image I have in my head for what I want. Any other suggestions? Big tail light needs to go even though it might take away from visibility.

I was in the same sort of boat. I found one set of lights that had a brake/running/slash blinker in each light and one for each side, but I didn't buy it and then it wasn't available.

You could probably get two pairs of lights: one running/brake, one turn. Then you could fashion a little bracket and stack them one over the other and put them on each side of the seat.

I bought a fully integrated tail light. It isn't perfect and I'll probably clean it up or get a new one later, but it cost me about $30. You can see it in my build thread: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=103534.msg1168984#msg1168984

stereosilence, I just pm'd you.

I'm looking to clean up the rear of my CB750. Every time I see that stock tail light assembly out back, it reminds me of the alien spaceship eye from war of the worlds.

Can anyone recommend a tail light with integrated turn signals? LED would be great due to the low power draw and durability.

I like this style, but I'm not sure if it has turn signals as well.
