Hi all,
Just registered because I sort of inherited my fathers 1974 CB200. He has put it away (running) in his garage about 6 or 7 years ago. He has just come to terms with the fact that he will not be riding it anymore and has given it to me to get it back into working order. There is so much information on this board that can help me in my journey towards a running CB. At the moment I am just a bit overwhelmed with information and I am looking for the best way to go about it.
I am thinking of starting with an oil change, new plugs and to clean the fuel system (tank, lines, carbs) and then just give it a try. Is that smart? I know the engine is not seized because I crancked the kickstarter every now and again, when I saw it standing. I don't know if this was a smart thing to do, but I did it. I just hope I don't need a complete engine overhaul, because this will be beyond my skills (and budget). I will certainly need new tyres because they are all dried out and cracked. I already saw that practically everything can be obtained from ebay although again it could become a money pit if I see the prices.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to get my hands on it and would appreciate any directions you can give me on where to start and what (not) to do.
I will add some pictures asap. It is an orange one and looks pretty decent apart from some rust pitting all over it.
