So I woke up this morning to my bike cover missing!! I had carabiners holding it on the bike so there's no way the wind took it! What does this mean?? Are there theives who would seriously steal a torn & duct taped cover or were they "scoping out" my bike before they steal the whole thing?? Now I'm paranoid and don't know whether to buy a security system or start parking in my apartment or what?? Any thoughts?

I vote for 'homeless theft' as well. When I lived in San Francisco next to Golden Gate Park, my BMW was broken into for the blanket on the floor in the back seat, and the change in my dispenser. A serious thief would have taken the opportunity to take the whole bike, or the parts he wanted. Be glad it was only the cover. And, if it was windy as hell, even a tie down won't save a cover sometimes. A few big gusts turns it into a parachute.

I had a ratty old bike cover stolen along with a bungee. Saw it later on a sleeping homeless guy. I took the bungee back off his shopping cart.

Haha right on -- well I hope he makes a good shelter out of it at least. I went out and bought a new one and put two heavy duty carabiners on it with a pad lock.

I also parked it in front of my car next to the curb with cars on both sides..it would take 4 grown men to lift it outta there!

all the crap goin on Bloomington right now, definitely put the bike inside. I live in Monrovia, about an hour away.........out in the sticks.

I came down to find a homeless guy sitting on my bike eating a slice of pizza once. Said he just wanted a comfy spot to sit while he ate. was retelling the story at the bar that night, and the next day my buddy shows up with an old lazy boy in the back of his pickup for the guy. lol.
