Wrist pin clip frustration
« on: April 07, 2012, 08:32:50 AM »
OK,it's been fifteen years since I messed with these little buggers, and I'm frustrated.
I don't remeber these things being this hard to install. I've got the pistons on the bike and only have 4 left to install. Is there a mthod toinstalling these that I'm unaware of. All I have are regular needle nose pliers and needle nose with a 90 degree bend. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I stick a large screwdriver or round punch in the piston hole with the clip, so no matter how much i fumble the clip it won't go flying across the room. Then push the clip in with a flat screwdriver.

Cool, sounds better than what I'm trying. I'll give it a shot after I go get my FZR from the school parkinglot. The fizzer lost it's masterlink clip...SCARY.
I can't wait to get the 500 happy so I can get started on the FZR. Projects never seem to end with old bikes.

I insert the ends side in first and away from the indent then carefully press on the middle while keeping my thumb/finger over the clip. A little lube will help the ends compress some.
