Front Sprocket
« on: April 09, 2012, 10:58:36 AM »
I removed the front sprocket on my 78 750 F/3 to change it to 14 tooth stock sprocket the PO had a 15 tooth in there. The 14 tooth stock sprocket has a sholder on one side could someone tell me which direction the sholder should go towards the motor or away from the motor? I have looked all over for this info with no luck I am sure there is a reason for the slight offset.

Thanks in advance

I just did my 78K over the weekend and that shoulder goes on the inside toward the engine.

Thanks for the reply I had a feeling that was the way it went the # 14 is stamped on the side without the shoulder so you could read it without taking the sprocket off my way of thinking anyway.
Thanks again

Bido, my pleasure we all help each other. I put some blue loctite on the bolt. I have red but that seemed like overkill.

I have to say one less tooth on the front sprocket was the best performance increase I have made so far like a new bike.

I think 14 was the stock. Some people try to lower the RPMs at highway speed. Now you get into the torque band in a different spot.
