Hi!  A friend asked me about preserving the original pipes some of us still have. My comment was to be sure to take a decent ride to make the pipes hot and burn out any moisture in them, it's the short runs that kill them. Another thing I've read is to run a bit of outboard oil in the gas to coat the inside of the mufflers with oil. My friend is suggesting spraying WD40 in then drain holes of the pipes. Plus removing and storing them in a warm dry palce for the winter months.
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
Cliff.

An old school trick  was to coat the pipes with used oil and run them to burn off the oil. It forms a crust, If they are going to be stored just leave the oil wet.
