Completed the soffit and facia today. The rough in electrical and heating was completed and approved by the building inspector. Now we insulate the walls and the plaster board, plaster and paint come next week. Tomorrow the tarp comes off the roof and the shingles go on.

Today we got the roof done and a great start on the insulation. The windows, plaster board and plaster should be done this next week.

Idea - I just received a Craftsman catalogue from Sears called "The Garage". They are killing me. Damn it hurts to look inside. I quickly spotted a wall mount drop down work bench! Perfect for my area where I pull my bikes in. 60" X 24" and supports 400lbs. Stores 4" from the wall. Butcher block. Even has a slot wall behind it. Item 009-32787 $349.99 "get the latest price online". I'm thinking of this as a supplemental bench to the 6 footer I now have. Never enough bench area when restoring a bike! I'll mount it lower than my existing bench so that it will be much easier to work on the frame stuff.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00932787000P?sLevel=0&redirectType=SKIP_LEVEL&prop17=009-32787

Dammit, it's $30 off. Guess I should pay off my card and start over! Guess we could always wait on the Kegerator!

I do have an old 7 UP pop machine from the 60's still running in the basement. But it is full of pop. I may just bring that up there to add some nastagia to the place. Actually, when I was in high school working at a DX gas station in town I used to fill this machine every friday night. When he closed down the station he gave me the machine for $50. Changed out the compressor fan motor and now it works great. The kids did not know how to get the cap off the bottles. It was pretty funny.

In all honesty Stevo...there is pop, wine coolers, wine and beer in there. So I think it would be fitting in the shop.  ;)

Johnie, please tell me you'll be updating this thread until the garage is not only completed with the build but with the bikes and projects in place and the "decorating" as well. It's looking like it's going to be a little slice of heaven.  :)

Yes, I will keep this going through the interior finish. My Honda dealer who I buy a lot of stuff from game me a set of new Honda flags they just received with the Honda logo and "I WANNA RIDE" promo on it. Said I can put them up which I plan to do. I am still trying to get their old HONDA SERVICE sign which does not work. I keep on them and bring venison and cheese and they do take care of me. They are all good guys there.

Yesterday we got the windows in and sealed. Also put up the vapor barrier on the walls. Today the rockers come to hang the plaster board. Tomorrow the plaster guy does his thing. Getting closer. Things have really fallen into place as far as getting the contractors here on schedule.

Looks like its almost ready to be filled with CB750's 8) 8)

What type of decor are you going to have. I've got a idea Johnie, hang a picture of MM on one of the walls. That will definitely set the place off ;) ;) Haha

Just build you own work bench with 2x4's. Put that $200 back in your pocket.

There are some great workbench design plans online for free.
I built a online design for a temporary table and I have been using it now for 8 years and its great. Never wobbles,no problems.

Plaster board and plaster? Why not drywall? Learn me something here  ;)

Apparently the plaster board is much stronger for not allowing cracks to show up vs drywall? I could have gone with all drywall and paint, but since I am doing this once in a lifetime I wanted more than just paint on the walls. The plaster with the skip trowel gives a bit of a design on the walls and sure gives the shop nice feel.

Hall...wall decor will be the CB750 Ace Hardward poster in a frame and some Honda signs from the local dealer. Looking for a few old oil signs. I have a Pennzoil clock going in there too. Plus, some pics of the 750's. Going with some pine trim that I have left over from a previous sunroom which will save a few bucks. Still looking at a epoxy floor.

Tews...you are correct. It all went together pretty fast considering we broke ground on April 9th. Contractors are still looking for work here so I did not have much problem getting them in.

Today marks exactly 1 month since we broke ground. We have power and lights in the shop. Today the garage door was installed. This weekend I will finish the siding. Still need to do the finish work on the windows and doors. Plan to put a mop board along the floor where the plaster ends. Still hoping to put down an epoxy floor. Furnace will be installed in fall when the sales start. I will put the AC in before the heat hits.

Wow, not bad for only a month Johnie.   You will love the floor if you epoxy it.  I did mine at my old place and it just gives it a finished, cozier feel.   Not to mention how easy it is to wipe up oil and whatnot.   If I may make a suggestion -  go easy on the flake and use a light color, like beige or light grey.  It seems the businesses that do floors have gotten in a habit of really laying down a crapload of flake.  The pictures I've seen, they all look like one would have a heck of a time finding a motorcycle that tipped over, much less any dropped bolts or screws.  More knowledge picked up from GarageJournal :)

I can not believe how far we got in a month. Just so happened contractors are still not real busy here in WI do to the economy so they are ready to come in when I call. I appreciate the tip on the epoxy floor. I think I will go with the light gray flake like you suggested. Was looking at a product called Perk. I saw a sample of their sea salt and that sounds like what you suggested. Nice looking shop fastbrochi!!! Thanks for the pics...
