Saying hi from Austin, Texas! 1973 Honda CB350F
« on: April 09, 2012, 08:49:58 PM »
Hey everyone,

Im a new member, been searching over the forum learning all your secrets. I have recently attained my first and most wanted motorcycle. Its a matador red 1973 Honda CB350F. I plan on fixing it up on my own (for the most part). I want to know this machine inside and out. I'm not very well versed in mechanics but I pick up on stuff really quick. I got a clymer Manual for it. When I got my bike though it does have some problems. The major problem with it is its not firing on all four cylinders only on (3 and 4 headers are hot, while 1 and 2 are pretty cool). Apparently the bike has been sitting for the winter (maybe longer) so I'm about to swap out spark plugs and see if that works. Also when I got the bike there was no Air filter in it, so I'm pretty sure its running on the rich side. Aside from that its pretty solid. It does start up, kick start works well, it even drives (although I only drove it once around my apartment complex when I first got it.) I haven't driven it since because its probably not the best for it (on 2 cylinders). I already ordered carb rebuild kits for it, so that should be a fun project. I plan on cleaning those suckers out just in case and bench syncing it. Hopefully I'll have it running on all fours. Give it a proper tune up then maybe take it to a shop to get it properly sync'd (not sure yet). For now I just want to get it road worthy.

Anyway, I will probably be a regular on these forums before long. Once I get my bike up and running I plan on doing a full restore. I'm pretty excited about my new whip and can't wait to get it running. If anyone knows of some good spots for Honda CB hangouts in Austin let me know.

I should have some time, this weekend to get some pictures up here pretty soon.

If anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction (I have been searching) to help me out with my (only two cylinders firing) problem. Please let me know.

Thanks!
1973 Honda CB350F

Welcome Dude!

Have a fun time with it.
Print the manual, it helps a lot.

Good luck
Steve

Hey everyone,
I'm a new member, been searching over the forum learning all your secrets.

Heh, we keep the real secrets to ourselves.   ;)

 Howdy! welcome! :D

You might grab a copy of the Honda shop manual here, it's WAY better than the Clymer manual!

 Get the parts list too.

And as Pecan mentioned, get them printed out.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:
