Team Northern 2012: US: ND, SD, IA, MN, WI, Canada: MB,SK
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:00:22 PM »
Hello fellow SOHC4 riders, it's time to get things in order for this years SOHC4 relay through our neck of the woods. I'll do what i can to get a list put on this thread of the current Team Northern riders. if you would like to be added to the list please PM me or post here. So far I know we will have to work closely with Team Central Rockies during our route planning. If we can get a rider from each state to be the head coordinator for their area that might make the planning a bit easier.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

With this kind of organization GZ II (Lefty) should have a great time AND be on schedule.  One of the goal destinations is to be in Milwaukee to show Lefty around the Rocker Box party in Milwaukee on August 4th. Thanks to all and I am looking forward to a new route through Wisconsin with an exit to Chicago and then into Oldschool's domain.

Here is the PM I've been sending to Team Northern Riders

"Hello fellow SOHC4 riders! This is a friendly reminder that the 2ND annual SOHC4 relay is already underway. Here is a link to the 2012 relay thread http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?board=167.0 I have come up with a list of riders for Team Northern, if you've received this message than you have already been included in the list. I'm sending this message out to groups of 10 riders since the forum messenger will not let me message all 60 riders at the same time. For the full list of riders and to post on our Team Northern thread go here http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=105119.0 Please post in our Team planning thread if you plan to participate this year. According to the route map http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=101662.0 Godzilla will first be entering our territory in mid May. The Nebraska riders will be the first of our Team to start planning. The Relay has already reached Louisiana. Looking forward to meeting some of you along the way... ride safe."

If I'm reading the map right (don't count on it), the route through the Land o' Cheese goes west-to-east this year. I'm planning relay vacation days for the first week of August, hoping to ride with the Lizard all the way to Rockerbox in Millywaukay.

Hi guys!

It's Wayne in Cedar Rapids... It's still early, and lots of things can change or come up, but based on late-July timeframe, I should be able to take part... First weekend of August I have National Guard drill (which will be 4 days that month) but if we can get to Iowa before then, I should be IN...

So, am crossing my fingers, and I'll be monitoring the thread.

PS - Shane72, where you live?  I'm next to Jackson Elementary school, not far from Wylie BLVD and F avenue...

Greetings Team North!

First off, I'd like to say Congrats to Wes for an AWESOME run through KS, NE and CO!  Sounds like you had a great time with great people on great bikes!!

Now, on to business. Team PNW will have Lefty in hand next week!!  They don't have their routes figured out yet, so hard to say when they will be ready to send Lefty our way. And no real plans for HOW we'll get the handoff!  I've been watching for rides in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Montana and the Dekotas to sign up, but alas, we're looking desperately thin thru some VERY large areas!

CALLING ALL NORTHERN PLAINS RIDERS!! time to speak up!!!

That being said, I think we better make plans for Lefty to arrive in cardboard :-(. A couple of good arrival points would be Minneapolis, then ridden thru Iowa, Wisconsin & Illinois.  Another would be for him to arrive in Milwaukee, then do a loop thru Minnesota, Iowa & Illinois.

I recall that Dennis had a show he wanted to take Lefty to. Dennis, which option would get Lefty in your hands at the right time?

Ok, discuss!!

It was a great time riding the relay so far this year. i got a change to cover some new ground and meet some new-to-me SOHC4 members. I will look through my PMs from last year and try to contact some of the SD and MN riders that rode last year. I looks like the relay will be going though that area in July so we have some time for planning. I'm hoping to do some more riding in the relay this year so I might be able to help with covering SE South Dakota, Western Iowa and maybe MN.

But as Old School said, we are looking thin on riders in the Northern Plains so lets hear from some of them and start the planning while we have some breathing room to work with.

Old School and Wes.............the Rockerbox Show and street party is August 4th..............I was thinking Lefty could travel from the show through Chicago and get to Indiana.

I know the problem with the central Provinces and the northern plains States, few riders and very questionable time for weekend riding.

We have some time..........and if Wes gets some riders??? to get Lefty into Minnesota by the last day or two of July..........all will be good! I have one reservation at my place for Friday, August 3rd..............there is room for more!  Arrive early for a tour of the Kettle Moraine Forest!  Do you like twisties???

Sounds like a great trip. I will defiantly keep it and mind and make sure i have those days open. we'll see how the planning goes but that sounds like an excellent option. got to ride some nice twisties in the Rockies (not many here in Nebraska  :-\ ) so YES, I'd like to ride some more of them twisties! i know some riders here in Lincoln that rode to Rockerbox last year, I'll ask them if there going again this year and maybe we could have a large NE group headin up there

Just a heads up at this point.  Team PNW is stalled in Idaho. Lefty may be headed our way in cardboard.

Possible mailing addresses could be Wes in Nebraska who is thinking of riding to Rockerbox in Wisconsin, or to Dennis near Milwaukee.  From there, we should be able to pick up Minnisota, Iowa, Illinois & maybe even roll a wheel or two in and out of the Dakotas.

Open to ideas...
