this sure doesn't feel like the fun we had 2011

I must say have had just as much fun this year as i did for the 2011 run.... maybe even more! But it was difficult getting riders to cover this leg last year too. We didn't have any riders from Iowa so our Nebraska crew covered it in a weekend. We need a rider or two to step up to the plate and log some serious miles to help us out...

Just a heads up at this point.  Team PNW is stalled in Idaho. Lefty may be headed our way in cardboard.

Possible mailing addresses could be Wes in Nebraska who is thinking of riding to Rockerbox in Wisconsin, or to Dennis near Milwaukee.  From there, we should be able to pick up Minnisota, Iowa, Illinois & maybe even roll a wheel or two in and out of the Dakotas.

Open to ideas...

Well I was looking at the current plans for GZ and it sounds like they might be shipping him to Seattle if they cant get a Oregon rider. If that happens, and they get him to Montana after that, maybe we should start planning on the handoff to North Dakota. Can we hear from some Dakota riders? If I don't go to Rockerbox I may be able to cover part of SD, MN & IA without any trouble. There were plenty of MN riders last year... hope they can make it this year too

I wish I could make a run to take GZ through Oregon to WA but I just don't have the days for that since it would take time to get there and get back.  If help is needed I could maybe do something over a friday - Sunday Iowa dakota or something.. I got a 750 from RoachCarver so I have a bit more power under my a$$..  Still have the 350 and might get another 750 this weekend.

Who is the rider located most to the west, who WANTS TO RIDE??? I can understand that some folks can't do it, but we need to find someone that CAN. How far east does Lefty have to go to get back on the road??? Greg's whiskey supply has disappeared, his neighbors have reported him to the cops for ungodly noises coming from his garage at all hours of the night, and his cat is pregnant with mutant lizard fetuses. To make matters worse, it's a male cat. :o
Where does Lefty go next???

I better get a hold of FunJimmy.. what he said about 6th of July could work well with a small detour. We have vintage Races in Vernon that weekend.. if they cross the border at Osoyoos/Oroville on Saturday then head north 130 miles they can spend the night at the vintage track..
we could take GZ for a few laps on the track on a sohc, then on the vintage ride in the AM, then they can continue on to Vancouver.. We have a couple riders here that could join them part way and ride up to the races with the GZ group..

754, can you hook up with Seaweb and do a little of the relay? Doesn't look like you'd need to ride very far. Say, Seattle area into BC then east to AB maybe?? Don't we have a couple AB guys that could meet you then head into MT to handoff?? Wes is out there in NB. He's a real rider. Maybe he could meet someone from AB??

Just don't understand why we don't seem to have any WA or OR riders that can help GZ get a ride for even a few miles?! Doesn't take much. That's why this is called a R-E-L-A-Y.

Greg/Ofreen always does a zillion miles and bails us out. SCondon is talking about riding all the way from San Fran to help out once again. Come on guys, come out of the woodwork and do a few miles each. GZ pride! SOHC4 p-ride.

If we can't get some riders soon we may as well just bypass that corner area of the map. No sense in begging guys to actually use their bikes. There are too many riders waiting along the proposed route to wait much longer. Forget UPS, GZ may just need to head east from where he is.

Who's gonna help GZ??

Team Northern, where/when can you guys get GZ? Who can ride the farthest west and when? They can't keep you guys down much longer!!

If it gets back to you Wes and you can't pick up Iowa or the dakotas, I will try to meet you in Lincoln and head north then turn around and back south if the date works out.

seems like this is falling apart this year.  was it too much to do it annually?  that is NOT a complaint just a general question.  I was up for annually as we know and many others.

We've got Wes in the West, Coke to the South and Old Scrambler in the East.  Landing in Minneapolis is an option too.   If it comes down to needing Team Brown to bring Lefty to us, we've got options!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

The REAL question is: who will be the leadoff rider for Team Northern? Is that you Wes? Anyone else? If we need to bring in Team Brown then this may as well happen ASAP and get it over with. We just have to make decisions and move. Team Brown was always my contingency plan last year but you'll notice I never brought it up because someone always stepped up to the plate. Talkin' ain't ridin'  ;)

754 Frank has made some suggestions for Team PNW which looks like that could be the final leg of PNW. FunJimmy has a plan that could hook up with Frank and his stealth riders. We need to get Team Northern hooking up with Team PNW and get GZ movin!

Frank, you listening in here? Please see what you can do for a hookup aka R E L A Y with Team Northern. It's all about connecting those dots  ;D

How's this sound guys?

SuperMan, er Coke, stay tuned we may need a little assistance here but we shouldn't be totally dependent on you either. Not too much to do on an annual (just once a year!) basis IMO, we just have some sparse areas for riders that can get on the road and outta the city. Life, WIVES maybe, family, jobs, bikes, $$$, many reasons.

All this may present a delay for the eastward journey. I hope all you guys waiting in line can absorb a slight delay?!  ;)

hey guys just letting you know I'm paying attention. i havent heard from any Dakota riders so that might be our Team Northern black hole for the relay. I still may be able to cover SD, IA, and MN and i'm thinking I could get some help from Coke and the MN riders along the way. Right now our plan depends on where Team Pacific Northwest will take GZ. I agree with Jerry, forget UPS GZ may just need to head east from where he is.

so I'll be standing by for further developments....

here's who i have listed for Dakota riders from last year. sent them PMs but havent heard back...

South Dakota
----------------------------------
bord0080 - Sioux Falls, SD - Team Northern - North to Canada from Omaha
cafe550 - Sioux Falls, SD - Team Northern
----------------------------------
North Dakota
----------------------------------
kapps
John Van Dam - Fargo, ND - Team Northern
ckramlic - Jamestown, ND - Team Northern
Skunk Stripe

If we can at least get a ND rider to jump in then I would feel better about Team Northerns ability to cover its leg of the relay.

Working on getting GZ to your leg on schedule, and on a bike. Working with Greg(ofreen) in Idaho, and have been posting in the other thread. Need to know who is available after the 4th of July and where they can meet me. Please read the post(s) at the end of the Northwest Thread here:

Looks like scondon is really stepping up to the plate for team PNW!

So I've been talking with Greg, and getting closer to nailing down some dates to move GZ along. The Montana leg of the trip is scheduled for 7/7, and the Dakotas portion scheduled for 7/14. I can leave after the 4th of July, say around the 6th, and get GZ into Montana by the 8th, or so. I can't head very far North because I have to turn around and get back to California, but I am flexible as to where a possible meet-up with the next rider of the rally will be. Southern Dakota's?

That's 1500 miles one way, and I just cant do that much and get home, so some mods will need to be done. Just posting it to get the discussion rolling as to who can take GZ and where's a good spot to meet

I've PM'ed the Dakota riders once more hoping to hear something. It would be a good idea if we could get a rider in the Dakotas lined up to accept the handoff from scondon before he leaves on his long trip our direction. I cant promise that I will be able to cover alot of Dakota miles (since I'm in eastern Nebraska) on short notice.

Wes.....send me up to 10 and I'll try to coordinate.

You should be hearing from two or more MN riders but I don't know of one in Western MN to get toward the Twin Cities......from their it is coming my way and depending on the rider and the day of the week I will ride west to meet up and get them to my place.......even if its a day or two early.  I have a lot of nice roads to show guests a good time.  I think we also have some riders in the LaCross and Madison areas.

Is there a route planned for team Northern yet? I'm just going by the original route map... I think were going to have to make some changes

wes,
The original map is just an outline and a guide to help connect the dots. The local riders are free to develop alternate routing to better accomodate local conditions and to best utilize the available pool of local riding talent. Be creative!

Wes.......thanks for the list and I'm on it.............we have 4 to 5 weeks to get Lefty started in our territory (maybe you) and 6 weeks from today to have him arrive near Milwaukee if we are to make a showing at the Rocker Box street festival on Saturday, August 4th.

One member rider from the Twin Cities area is planning to ride to my house.....with or without Lefty GZ!
