Wes, when do you plan to leave for RockerBox?

I really want to ride to Rockerbox but unfortunately I'm limited on funds and time off. It's sounding like Accolay might be the one receiving GZ so I'll leave the planning up to him. If it works out I'd like to meet up with Accolay and any other riders for a day ride but I'm thinking a ride all the way Rockerbox is out for me this year  :(

Ok Team North,

We have a beginning with Accolay picking up/taking delivery of Lefty. We also have an ending with Lefty making an appearance at Rockerbox on 8/4. If you want a piece of this relay, it's time to speak up!  Talk to Accolay on where and when you can meet up to ride along or take the handoff.  Talk to Old Scrambler about Rockerbox and the central Wisconsin rip he is planning.

Can't ride but wana help?  A shower and a sofa is always welcome by a weary rider. A garage for wrenching or the company of a chase vehicle is appreciated too!

Following Rockerbox, SconnyBoy is planning a kegger and garage party in Chi Town. That's where Team Central will take over.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Hey accolay (+ rest of team)...
I rode with you from Okoboji down through NE last year.  Dropped me off in Bellevue NE as the rest of you rode through to Lincoln.

Not sure how this all may or may not help, but here's my plans.
I'm definitely attending Rockerbox and will be riding from Omaha to Rockerbox for that weekend of Aug 4th.

At the earliest, I will be leaving Omaha, thursday after work on Aug 2.
The way it seems now, I'll be traveling solo, as I've seen no posts from any NE or IA riders that are making the trip.

Haven't made hotel arrangements yet, since so far its just me, doing the trip.
If any others join in, I'm up for sharing hotel accommodations.  Usually I prefer camping, but pretty sure you all up North are getting the
same crazy 95-100deg heat we are down here in NE.  That don't sound too fun, after putting lots of miles on the bike!

Side note:  I can take some extended weekends off to assist in moving GZ (although, now I see its going via 'Brown'?  I'd rather see it on ANY motorcycle...sohc or otherwise, than go brown, but hey...GZ seems to be stuck out west for awhile now.)
Usually I can take Fridays through Tuesdays off.  Wedns and Thursdays are must work days for me.

Keep in touch.

***Whos the contact or wheres the meet point for the sohc crowd to meet @ Rockerbox?

grasscutter, if you and accolay end up riding toward Missoula to pickup GZ on 7/27, you can count on me riding with part of the way that weekend.

Grasscutter......I am in Cascade, about 40 miles north of Milwaukee.......your welcome to stay overnight at my home........2 or 3 other riders may join you on the way and if the timing is right I'll ride out to meet you when your east of Madison......US 151 is an OK ride from Dubuque, or get to Praire du Chein and take the Wisconsin River route to LODI, its a ferry crossing, and bypassess the Madison traffic.  Old Scrambler

Westondc:  Cool.  Would be great to log some miles with you again.  Waiting for accolay to join in on this.  Hope his schedule works.

old skool is cool:  Would love to meet up for your party and team central meet-up.  Maybe connect @ Rockerbox?

old scrambler:  Thanks for the invite.  Looks like a plan might be getting formed in a next few days.  Waiting for accolay to join in, and let us know his scheduling.

Thinking if us NE riders (even if its just Westondc and me) could meet accolay in Sioux Falls, then the 3 of us could ride to MT.
Would also be great if we could arrange a hand-off in Billings?

Whats status on GZ?  Did he get shipped?

Hey let me know what the plan is right before Rockerbox. I have 4.5 hours saved of personal time. I had 26 hours but my lil one was ill and in the hospital for a few days. Hopefully the invite is still available Old Scrambler to stay at your house. Do I need to bring a tent? Also, I talked my dad into coming so he may be driving my 750 and me my 550. I am tryign to coordinate how to handle the babysitting for the kids if the wife has to work. Either way I am in...

Also for those coming from West and plan to stay at Old Scramblers, depending on the time I can ask see if I can drive toward Madison to meet those on the way to Old Scrambler's.

Rockerbox is also a for sure thing. Curious if others who I know are able to attend Old Scrambler your shindig the night before Rockerbox? Last we had a group of 7 or 8 bikes go.. Only one SOHC of course!

Still working how to hand off on the TEAM PNW board. But after we get GZ to TEAM NORTHERN: if people come from Nebraska and need a place to stay: my house is a dump, but people can definitely stay. The shower in the downstairs works, and the toilet upstairs works. No Air Conditioning, but a garage with tools and a floor to sleep on in Minneapolis :)

Looks like  Accolay and Grasscutter are stepping up to the plate and getting ready to log some miles in order to keep GZ from being trapped in the brown box! Thanks guys! Now is the time for other Team Northern members to step forward and help get the little green monster to Rockerbox.

I'm still available 7/27, 7/28, 7/29 to do some relay riding

Riders......The plan to move Lefty-GZ from Seatle to Milwaukee is coming together. The ROCKER-BOX party is August 4th and Skamagedon will try to reserve parking spaces for a group ride-in during the AM.  Apparently Skonnie Boy will be carrying GZ to Chicago later in the day.

If Grasscutter and others arrive early (Thursday anytime, or Friday AM) they are welcome at my home for a local ride on some twisty roads and bench-racing sessions. Overnights in the house are on a 1st-come basis but there is room for five or six counting the padded carpeting. Tents in the yard are also OK.  Two bathrooms and showers are available and my wife, Carol, makes a great breakfast.  We should plan to leave on Saturday, the 4th, for Rockerbox between 9 and 10 AM.

Other riders include but are not limited to Tews19; zanvooden; oldschooliscool; sheanbarney; DB22; srust58; and pilotguy.  Please PM me with your ETA.   Also let me know if you will stay over Saturday night after a long day at Rockerbox.

Also posted this on the PNW Thread:

Here's my plan. The first two days include heavy riding. And when I say ride, I do mean ride, because I have a lot of ground to cover during this portion :)

Day One Sunday July 22nd: I'm leaving Minneapolis early afternoon and will make it to Dickinson, ND on the first day via I-94.

Day Two, Monday, July 23rd on to Missoula again on I-94/I-90. Interstate to save time in order to meet for hand-off.

Next three days are more up in the air. Southish/Eastish towards Lincoln/Omaha, NE for handoff. Butt will probably be a little sore and will make more stops, but will still have to ride. Must be in Minneapolis on Friday night. Maybe through Yellowstone. Maybe stop at Devils Tower. Maybe Black Hills. Maybe through Nebraska Sand Hills

If there is anybody who wants to ride a bit of the way with me, feel free. I have not figured out where I'm going to stay yet, but I do like camping and it's cheap. PM for finer details if you would care to join.

Oh yes...who shall I hand GZ off to in NE? Wes? Grasscutter?

I just got an job offer of sorts that will take me out of town from the 3rd to the 8th, so it is with heavy heart that I bow out of Lefty-related activities this year.  I tried to finaggle the schedule, but I can't turn down work, especially in this economy.  I will post to the Team Midwest thread and work with them to make sure Lefty makes it through Chicago and FIB-land in general.

Damn, was really looking forward to this.

Congrats on the job Skonnie!  And thanks for your enthusiasm.  Maybe you can tag up with Team Central or with Team Michigan and can get a few GZ miles in anyway.

Also posted in PNW...

One of the goals of this relay, besides getting actual face time with like minded SOHC4 nut jobs er, I mean enthusiasts is to have GZ ride thru as many states/provinces as possible.  Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba seem a bridge too far for this year. But what about Wyoming, the Dakotas, Iowa and Minnesota?   Surely the (Accolay's) trip back from Montana will touch many of them. But Is it possible to touch them all?  I'm assuming no.

Those on the road need to choose the safest, most fun route possible, no one should question that.  If the opportunity to roll thru one of the dangling states presents itself, then that would be AWESOME!!  But at the same point, some Hurculean riding is taking place here so those who stood up to make this happen call the shots!  If the relay misses your particular burg, then stand up and see what YOU can do to make it happen!

OK, since it looks like the hand-off in Missoula isn't going to happen. Who does Terry ship Lefty to?? Grasscutter, sounds like you got your charging issues solved. Are you up for a ride east?

Friday I am heading to Iowa for the night. I am not driving my bike there but will be heading to Rockerbox the following week. If an Iowian is getting it, I can pick up.. Not as cool as a bike pick up but I can put him on the handle bars of a bike that is trailered. Friday and drive it around on my 550 the next day.

Yup.  Stator and rotor in.  Running fine!
And even if the stator issue didn't go as planned... I've got other bikes to ride.
Just need a destination.

So, yeah, I'm in for a ride.  What you got in mind?

My personal part of the relay was over in the first few days this year. ;) You guys need to decide where and when. Figure that if Lefty gets mailed this Monday, he won't be received until Wednesday at the earliest, wherever that ends up being.

Got a CB650 sohc, that I leave down in AZ.

Any IA riders going to RockerBox?
Could consider a meet-up as I head from Omaha to Milwaukee.
Maybe ride together for part of the trip, eh?

Or... since there's a bigger group of sohc guys in MN / WI, send GZ there.

Either way, need to get it planned.  Rockerbox is 2 wks away!

Hey, get in touch when you're back in AZ! Don't usually do much riding in the winter, as it can be pretty cool up here near Prescott. Still, this is exactly what the relay is about, meeting members face to face, while enjoying our common love of bikes. 8) 8)

I've been watching to see the timing play out before getting people counting on me.

It looks as though with my work schedule, I won't even be in the country for some, and across the country for the rest, when GZ is anywhere near me.  The next couple of weeks are out of pocket for me, off and on.

Sorry folks,   :(

Just throwing out an idea here, folks, so don't burn me at the stake. How about if all of you meet up at rockerbox? We can ship Lefty to Dennis, and you can catch up with him there.
