how easily should my motor turn over?

I just put my cylinder back on and i am turning my motor over via vise-grips at the points bolt and it feels like it takes a little more to turn it over then previous to taking it apart. I did not do a rebuild i just inspected and cleaned the top end because everything looked like new. The piston action is smooth, and no scrapes to the bores. Am I just over-reacting? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Were you turning it with the spark plugs removed before, versus turning it with them installed now? 

Regardless.  Don't put too much torque on that advancer bolt.  You'll snap it right off.

No, spark plugs were removed in both situations. So obviously since your not supposed to put too much torque on the advancer nut, is it supposed to turn over with little to no force at the advancer nut? I dont really have to wrench on it but have to use a little force. I used 3" pipe clamps as a ring compressor. Is it possible that those may have bent the cylinder sleeves a little? :(

Not likely you bent a sleeve, they're pretty tough.

That nut is designed to turn the engine over but you should use a proper wrench and do it square on. With a 10 inch Crescent it should turn but its a firm presssure and never as easy as you'ld like it to be.

Whether you've broken a ring or such, there's the rub.

Almost positive that i didnt break a ring, piston action is smooth with noise or signs of a rub. You say there is a firm pressure, so there is supposed to be some resistance? I honestly think I could just be acting overly cautious, this is my first cb engine r&r and I am pretty much just learning as I go, from the hondaman manual of course.

when you cleaned everything did you oil the jugs?
try putting on the kicker an see if it feels the same as it did before

There is definitely resistance. That's why its said to remove the plugs. With them in, its too hard to turn, though it will. With the plugs out its easier. But its always been too hard for me to feel comfortable doing it. Though I do obviously.

Yes, I did oil the jugs. I am probably just being overly cautious. I will have the motor back in tomorrow hopefully and I will give the kicker a shot. Thanks for the advice guys it really helps
