$75 1974 CB750 "SUPER"BIKE???????
« on: April 10, 2012, 06:21:04 PM »
:o ::) Well I haven't posted much lately but I had to put up this one.  Was checking the local craigslist this morning and found this.

Circa 1974 Honda CB750 motorcycle not run in four years, had carb problems - kept outside, not in great condition, but in one piece... have key but no title  $75

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/mcd/2949923269.html

Anyway I bought it because I have a 1974 in need of some stuff. Upon further review the bike has a nice set of Koni shocks,  an extended swingarm off some other bike (F model?), Dyna ignition and coils. But the thing that cracked me up is the sticker on the chain guard (see last 2 pictures)!!!!

The bike is PURPLE, it came from the north side of Chicago (Broadway and Lawrence) and the sticker says........well draw your own conclusions. I must say its a "SUPER" bike!!!  Maybe it was in the parade!!!

Hey Mr. Mayor!! Does he like....... Purple?????  I am finishing up a 1976 CB750K 836 motor with a set of lesters. I'll start a different thread for that. Right now I got a lot going on but I am keeping it for parts until I'm done with my 74!!

Great find!!! Years ago I picked up a 1976 CB550F for $50 bucks. I restored the whole bike and am looking to sell it this Spring for around $1800.  Good luck with it.

Yeah that was a good one but I have 2 more 71's in the garage waiting to make a come back. This one I recently bought from the original owner. Check out the "Batman faring" and those rear crash bars!!!

My wife used to hear me complain when I would miss a good deal. She told me when you feel the urge to look go ahead and look, don't blow it off! Well it worked on this one and a 1971 from the original owner I got 2 months ago!!!!!! It also helps being retired!!! ;D

I guess being retired really has advantages...like first on craigslist and first to check it out...good for you. Cool pics...actually would not mind seeing more of those bikes behind the K1. Looks like a good collection there.

The rear swingarm looks to be constucted of round tube that I believe makes it a DOHC 79 thru 82 swingarm.

Well this is what's in the garage now:
All CB750's
12/1969
05/1970
01/1971
06/1971
03/1974
11/1975
and of course "The PENIS bike" ;D ;D ;D
I haven't bought a bike that was running in years!!! Here's a pic of the 1976 I have almost finished with a "Digger" 836. The 1974 is next! Then I want to concentrate on 1969-1971 bikes!!

Thanks! I wondered if it was some aftermarket set up from the 70's. When I take it apart I'll get a better look.

I bought the motor from member SOHC Digger about 2 years ago. It had the top end  rebuilt with 836 pistons and has only a couple hundred miles on it.
