not magic...just think about it on percentage improvement of beginning stock hp...also stock car exhaust manifolds are MUCH more restrictive than any motorcycle ever...

It could be close if it does away with the catalytic converter.

If people would stop buying $700-$1500 garbage can exhaust systems and $700 rear sets, and $1500 cast aluminum wheels, $250.00+ shocks maybe these businessmen would stop thinking we are stupid and will pay any price.

I always by fro the car world if possible. At least those people are reasonable.

The marine world is just as bad as the motorcycle world.
I guess they think that if we have money to by a recreational vehicle then we must have too much money.

What makes me really mad is these new exhaust systems look very clumsy compared to earlier years where the factories actually had people with metal working skills and could produce beautiful exhaust systems and now all they can do is make a cylinder shape and stamp the end cap.

Amen ......and stainless no less and there were cheaper sets in ss. If the tube size was right I'd buy one for the bends to make my own.

There is NO way header/exhaust gives 20-25hp on a honda!, not even removing the cat, hondas require back pressure if they are NA. If we are talking on a civic with 120-160horsepower at the flywheel, do you really think header and exhaust is going to add 15% horspower+? No.
If we are talking about TURBO cars, then just a free flowing exhaust, larger diameter and no cat WILL result in 20-50 horsepower! My Supra Twin turbo puts down 276 HP stock, after full exhaust, intake and tune, it put down 403 HP.

The best HONDA engine that benefits from a header is the RSX, and that results in about 10 horspower, but we are talking, 1k dollar, equal length, mandrel bent, perfect collector with smooth transition header.

Vtecs give a lot more than 120-160HP. My son's gives 170 or something and that's an 1800. This pipe is for the 2.2l

CBR750RR,
I was wondering on you're Supra Turbo(Nice car!)when you say "tune"..does that include remapping the fuel injection unit..or will it compensate for the extra flow ?

I do not think that is possible.

The costs are.
Tubing...must be bought at at least 1000 feet to get a good price.
Bending. A mandrel bender is not cheap. Machine has to get paid for.
Welding fixture must be made and prototype work done. Costs.
Welding of production item will be TIG hand work. Worker has to be paid.
Welding consumables,gas, filler wire, electricity,etc.,.
Deburring edges.
Painting or coating. Labor and coating ,comply with paint regs.
Shipping and packaging. Cost of box, tape, artwork.
$150.00 just not possible.

Lucky and 754 it is possible just not probable. look at this link SS honda Accord F22 header it has 4 flanges, About the same size tubing and quantity, 3 gaskets and lots more welds they could sell at 150 which is about twice what they get for these and have less work and materials to make them. We are not quite the rage at the moment.

Car exhaust in general is way cheaper than motorcycle exhaust. You could get a really nice well made stainless car or truck exhaust for about $500.00. My Micron System on my Buell was about 1100.00. As for those ebay headers (I've had a few), after about 2 weeks they wont look stainless anymore. They are absolute garbage metal. Also, Honda Car engines haven't changed exhaust flanges until the introduction of the k motor. All D, B, or H series engines use the same header flange regardless of the year. So, China had about 20 years to practice making crap headers.

...and $125 in 1975 is equal to $528.96 nowadays,
you can get a nice stainless yoshi replica shipped for less then that. Those cheap Mac exhausts on ebay nowdays would only have cost $63.80 in 1975

Volume. And robotic bending and welding.  20 million Accords out there and every kid wanting to install a giant exhaust pipe so it will sound funny means high volume sales.  How many 400F's are there still on the road?

I bought 2 1/4" primary and 3 1/2" collector equal length headers with 3/8" flanges for my Torino for just a little bit for than the Carpy exhaust going on my CB... and that for the entire set of headers for the Torino... So basically it is almost two for the price of one header for the CB. Granted, the headers for my Torino are uncoated, but still....

Ha... I just sold my mint 2003 XB9S with about 2800 miles and tons of aftermarket stuff... I miss it, but the CB is lighter and more managable (shorter) for someone my size (5'7").

those HP claims the ebay guy makes are false. No header for a honda will make 20-25hp. That one will make 5-7 tops. My brother has a similar one on his civic. It's got a bunch of other mods, and he had it dynoed after the header install and it was only a 5 hp increase. At those levels the gain could have been something else too.

What it really does is make the car sound meaner (lol) and give like 1 more mpg. To make any good HP on a car like that requires a turbo/super/nitrous.

Depending on the Honda engine you can actually have pretty high gains from a new header especially if you are unrestricting a base model car. Honda trys to make their base models quiet which of course cuts HP but once you open them up, you could see a good 10HP increase. If you are running a K series engine like what's the RSX's K20 (Integra DC5) or the TSX's K24 (Accord) you get some fairly large increases and a noticeable sound increase. And by the way, the ebay seller only claims a "Gain [of] 10~15 Hp" Also when you dyno, it makes a large difference if you measure at the axles (take off wheels and hook hubs to tester) versus at the wheel (tire on roller).

If you guys wanted a 4-1 with no muffler, yes it would be cheaper. Maybe its time to switch to cars for you guys..

Shorter bends are cheaper to make, and easier to fit within tolearance.. and those are done in much higher volume than our bike stuff..

Yes, since you said 1.8L and 170 horsepower I will assume he has a Integra GSR and the motor is a b18c1, for this motor a header that would make over 10 HP would be at 1-2k range, fully built this engine would be somewhere in the 220-230horsepower range NA and turbo, 600-800whp has been achieved easily!

The problem is that these cheap exhausts and headers have been tested and proven to eiter lose power or gain low low gains, they are more for looks, no to mention the welds tend to crack, alot of the times the flanges etc dont fit.
