Cb750 F front end
« on: April 12, 2012, 07:59:07 AM »
Does the 75/76 F front have the same geometry as the 75/76K, 77/78K of the f2/3 bikes? I dont have a manual with this specific info and digging something like this up is not always the easiest. I want to think they are like the 75/76K.

75/6 F  wheelbase 57.9 inches
            caster angle  28 degrees
            trail  4.5 inches

76K     wheelbase 57.3 inches
           caster angle 27 degrees
           trail  3.7 inches

Don't have specs for the others.

So would you say the wheel base on the F is slightly longer and at least as stable as the early K bikes?

The offset on the triple trees is 50mm on the 75/76F's. This differs from the K0-K6 models which is 60mm.

I would say the F bike is more stable than any of the K bikes and handles better.  Some of the contemporary reviews of the time state that.  Longer wheelbase and trail.

Yes, longer swing arm for sure, maybe more rake in the front.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

This is from a review from 1975 of the '75 CB750 f1 (Super Sport) in Cycle Magazine:

"However it may have been obtained—by the revised steering geometry, longer wheelbase, stiffer frame or whathave-you—the Honda CB-750F Super Sport does have exceptionally good handling qualities. Indeed, it is in this area that it comes nearest justifying the Super Sport label. The CB-750F, tighter gearing notwithstanding, is going to get shaded in a straight-line contest of speed with, say, a Z-1. But it handles better than any of the other Japanese Superbikes. Despite the longish wheelbase and stability-oriented steering geometry, the Honda CB-750F handles like a bike at least a hundred pounds lighter."
