There is a DOT code on the side of the tires to tell you when they were made. But if you know it hasn't been touched in 10 years, then no use looking.
You'll need to slide tires to the top of your priorities. Even tires with good tread, and low visible cracking, are beyond service limit over time. That time being 6 years for poor performance and danger, and 10 years maximum.
What happens is they "outgas' important agents which keep the tires soft and keep the plies bonded together. So even a good looking tire can suffer a catastrophic failure just runing down the road. Regardless of the tread depth.
