Nippon Denso Spark Plugs for SOHCs in Australia

A BIG Heads up for everyone that may not know.
After some NGK plus sooting issues and correspondence with Hondaman, our resident forum expert, The plug recommended is the NDX24ESU.
They are available in certain shops in the US @ $2.86 + postage (+$20.00 or more) to Oz.
So I let my fingers do the walking, I rang 5 M/c shops in Adelaide and Melb, several car dealers, the "denso Australia" number in the book...all to NO avail, everyone uses NGK.
Off the top of my head i rang Nissan, No they use NGK, but they thought some Toyotas use ND.......Bingo.
So I ring the local Large Toyota Dealer...do you have ND plugs?..Yes....Do you have X24ESU?.....YES!!!.
I was quoted $3.00, but because they are from Melbourne HQ, you have to pay in advance. So I scoot to the Dealer, and the guy says...$2.85 each thanks..AND NO FREIGHT CHARGE!! So that is here at the US price, Yippy at last a win for the Ozzys.
Seems if they order thru Melb HQ it is freight free...if thru another dealer they charge freight.
So boyz get down to your local TOYOTA dealer and by up some sets. Make sure they order from HQ in Melb.
I put them in my 750/4 and she runs 100 times better than before, better start, idle, mid range, everywhere. In fairness to the sooty NGKs they did run the engine in, so obviously some excess oil burn etc. BUT the NDs are cheaper than the NGK anyway, and Better.
They are copper core with the U shape electrode.
So everyone Off to the Toyota dealer...the more ya buy, the better the chance of supply...I bought 2 sets :).

Hey, thanks for that info - interesting. I've always had slow running issues with my bike and sooty plugs - sure can't hurt to give these a go.
Off to the local Toyota dealer on Tues (and they are business associates of mine too).

i find denso and ngk to be equal in my 550,dont be swayed by a "u' groove,its no big deal,ill wager even fresh ngk would have given that freshen up feel anyway,i can buy nd plugs locally on the gold coast,i ran the same densos for two years,ngks go the same distance,,id measure your plug cap resistance if your sooting or something,or keep the revs higher.

Thanks Dave for your input...But you'll notice Slipstreams price is $3.40 + freight to anywhere in Oz..whats that =? $20.00+??
Go to local a Toyota dealer, $2.85 to $3.00...freight free.
Isnt that a better deal?

maybe in adelaide?im not worried about 40c per plug,i can walk into slipstream here,no freight.,shipping is only $8 bucks on orders under 299 and free once over 300.

I've used ND's and they're fine, but I've never had a problem with NGK's either. I run electronic ignitions in all my bikes, so I never have problems with plugs. My BMW K1100LT ran Bosch plugs with two electrodes and they're the same heat range as my NGK's, so I might try them next time. Cheers, Terry. :D
