Where are all the Hi-Po CB 750 swingarms ? D&K ?
« on: April 15, 2012, 08:42:10 PM »
 Anyone ever see;
 Rc Clubfoot
 RC without the curved brace

 D&K with triple shock mount
 D&K for stock shock with lowering mount..

 WTF is all this stuff???

 Anyone know anything about how long and who ran D & K ? I got one of their catalogs, the offered several CB 750 cams, sleeves Distributor or Magneto ignitions, frames , etc

I had Kosman build that 6+ braced one for the turbo bike.

It sorta went like this:

Kosman: SOHC WTF?  :o
Me: $??  ???
Kosman:  $$$  ::)
Me:   :(

BUT...

After chrome:  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)

 I will check the D&Kpics, that may be it.. I think their shock mounts were flat across the top..

How much to chrome? Pic?

You can kinda see it in the hyperlink pic, at least the brace and a little shiny, it looks far more impressive in the sun.
The cost of bling was steep - I just remember it was exorbitant - but didn't keep me away from acquiring many shiny bobbles...
I didn't realise D&K made swingarms, but I have made a pass on an injected SOHC built on their laydown frames. ONE pass. I didn't like launching against the aluminum nut cracking crotch crusher... er, seat.  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

I believe D&K was somehow hooked up with Big Carl of Motorcycles Unlimited in Okla City. I believe everything finally went to OKC and was marketed under MCU. Sam Wills was in the same building and may have been building the stuff.   Don't hold me to this.

As for today. If you want a steel swingarm made at a reasonable price, see the fine folks at; http://www.dgchassis.net/Dragbike%20Swing%20Arms/dragbike-swingarms.aspx

 I forgot to check the catalog at my dshop today. They did have MCU listed as their dist.

 I think that arm is D&K astheir front was diofferent than the RC and the triple shock mounts were flat across the top..

 They showed a distributor ignition, similar to RC, but the case was a weldment, and then plated.. I have seen at least one come up on ebay...

 There is an interesting article on Vintage Magnetos in Rodder Journal, even some pics from the SCINTILLA factory..

Another few things we found on the one that went onto the Samauto DB, the needle rollers in the pivot point were toast. As we were running struts, we had plain aluminum bushes fitted.
When we came to have the struts made and fitted, we found that the RC arm that was made for K models would not allow the struts to line up as the top shock mounting point on the Auto was different to the K, I think this also applies to the F models. As well as the shock points not ligning up, you will probably find your chain is out of alignment, worth checking racerx95 before you go to any lengths.
Another thing worth checking, did RC make an extended arm for the F models, Frank ?
If there is more than one arm, a simple way of checking is to measure the distance where the shock would fit at the top, then measure the lower mounting points, on ours it was about 5/8ths out. hope this helps.

 The catalog I have here lists 750 and 500 as same part #. I have a later catalog at the shop, with more types including the clubfoot.
 If set up for struts they may not have proper pivot bushings, at anyrate shock/strut mounts, and chain aligning should be checked closely and not left to luck or chance..
