How do you plan on using the bike?  Longer road trips or frequent commuting and you could get a smaller sprocket for the rear to keep the RPM down at highway speed. The F had different gearing in 4th and 5th so the bike runs at higher rpm in those gears than a K.  So in that instance it may be better drop a tooth or two on the rear.  Just tooling around town and shorter trips I would leave it stock.

Just got a set of Spitfires for my 76F too.

my girl has a 550f, so I think we're gonna keep it to more back roads than highways, I was gonna go with the stock sprocket size as it came with , its more of what brand

Just ordered sprockets from my Honda dealer. 2 choices - JT or Sunstar. JT is less expensive. I've been running Sunstar up front and JT on the rear. Both did fine. Don't get a Honda chain. Much better strength wise aftermarket. Look for a higher tensile strength. 9000+ rating. I found a leftover Tsubaki Sigma 102 link o-ring with 10,600 rating on EBay for $90 from a Harley shop!! expect to pay $150+ for a GOOD chain. It's expensive but a good investment as you will NOT have to adjust it EVERY ride like the Honda or cheaper chains. It will last MUCH longer too.

Now, the deal of the day TODAY ONLY is BikeBandit.com. They are running a 25% off sale TODAY on sprockets and chains. You can pay your credit card next month but you gotta order today!

I had 17/48 and rode 1,300 miles on the tour last summer. some stretches I cruized at 5200rpm for hours. After that I put on an 18/48 and like it much better on the highway. It seems happier at 4800rpm. I am too.

I'm running the 530 17/48 combo on my 76F engined 77K and I find it geared a touch low like Don R said. First and second are too buzzy around town then third is a bit high.
