fork oil

hey just wondering what type of fork oil i should use in my 78 550 the clymer says to use 160cc of SAE 10w-30 should i just go pick up some motor oil at my local automotive store i am kind of confused. thanks

My 81 cb650 clymer manual stated using tranny fluid. Its too wimpy so I use Belray 20w fork oil. Most bike shops carry that. Any oil should work, Just make sure you fill it correctly or you'll get some puking seals if you load them up too much.

10-30 will never get hot in your forks, so its viscosity will pretty much be 10 weight.  The stock forks on any of these bikes could use some preload and comp/reb damping. I think Honda used salad dressing for fork oil so any increase in oil weight will help some.

I'm not sure of the brand anymore but I bought "fork oil" at the local moto shop.  I think it was Bel Ray.
Why worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough troubles of it's own.

I think they used a low grade Olive Oil with just a hint of Balsamic for color.

I heard it was 1000w30 Island dressing.
