Just got home, though several of your countrymen tried to kill me, and Lefty is resting and eyeballing the dog in Carnation, Wa.
How about some movers here to Finish off the North America stint? BC isn't far from me. how about it Canadians? You can get some cheap gas down here on the pickup and be a part of history.

I'm back, too.  I'll get a ride report together when I get the pix sorted out.  Great to meet you Terry, and thanks again.

I will try to do a motor swap, in the next few days.. IF that goes well, , then (maybe) a slight chance I can help out.. Sure has been hard getting the roadworthy bikes  to do the job some days... Thanks TL, and Ofreen..for moving GZ down the road..

I'd be willing to contribute further - maybe a day's ride out (300 miles or so). Who is actually running things at this point? There are a few people who seem to want to help. We just need someone to coordinate & plan a route. If 754 gets a scooter running, we'll get some miles on.

Here are some pix from the Idaho-Oregon-Washington part of the 2012 relay.  It was two days of riding on one of my favorite loops.  The roads and scenery are spectacular.  The photos only give a small taste of what is there.

Looking back on Boggan's -

Coming into Anatone, WA

Setting up camp in Hells Gate state park on the Idaho side of the Snake River -

Back up to Clarkston on the Washington side of the river for the handoff to Terry (tlbranth)

July 6th -

This is an all volunteer army, Terry. ;D We need all you folks that are willing to ride to chime in and work out what you all want to do. The goal is let everyone that wants to ride have a chance to do so, hopefully moving Lefty towards the next team. If he has to ride in a box for a bit, so be it. In the meantime, show him a good time in the PNW, meet and ride with as many members as you can, and above all, have FUN. 8)

Hey TL, met you and your wife last year at the Mercer Island GZ 2011 pre-ride. I was on my 350F. Where does GZ need to go next, and what is the timeline, if any?   I'll have some seat time this weekend.  Sent you a PM.

edit...Planning to pick up Lefty on 7/14 from Terry in Carnation, and hang with me in 98012 until we get the North or East handoff sorted....

Let me rephrase then:

How is GZ getting out of WA? Are there any riders between WA and the midwest? Is GZ going up through Canada? What's the plan, Stan?

right now there's no plan. There's a rider in Calgary wants to be included, 754 may get a bike cobbled together and if so he'll be good for a long jaunt. I might be up for meeting the Calgary member for a handoff. This year seems a lot less together than last year and I think it's up to us members to put together a plan.

I'm in Minneapolis. Provided my bike works: If you guys can get over towards Montana, I would be willing to come out and meet somewhere that way for a handoff.  I have July 23rd through the evening of the 27th off from work. If there is someone I could meet out there in that time frame, I can do it.

How far west in Montana would you be willing to go Accolay? Bear in mind it's 800 miles across.

That's it? No ride report or any details of any kind??

I don't get the PNW, this is such a great event but appears there is no interest. We had a great time when it came through Texas.

Ok. Ok. Ok.... ;D
It was a 40 mile rount trip to Carnation,WA, to TLBranth's cottage in the woods to get GZ and the logbooks.  We chatted for 30 minutes or so about our bikes, his GL, and his wifes VT700 and shadow 250.  I took a quick detour from the Snoqualmie  valley and hit the Tolt River. GZ said this was where Danny Bonaduce recently filmed the poor syfy channel movie BIGFOOT. GZ challenged Bigfoots acting skills and after a few war cries from the river bank, BIGFOOT failed to appear for the throwdown.  BIGFOOT vs Bonaduce compared to GZ vs Mothra......pahleeeez 8)
A quick Sprint home throught the valley between the light raindrops gets us home.
On the set of BIGFOOT

Not good here. first motor I looked at had a bit of moisture in at leasrt one cylinder, and one sparkplug is stuck. So I pulled a KO lower out of a frame that had a K3 head, on it.. but it had water in the lower end. cases were heavy on silicone so I opened it up , needs mucho cleanup 2 rods are rusty and bearings9shells) look etched from moisture.
So its vlooking like the first motor may be worth using the lower end, and fixing up the top end, but not going to happen in the next few days. might  be soon though, but still a re & re ahead, and then see how it runs..
Cant promise anything, plus have a job prospect that I cant turn down if it happens, and it involves air commuting..

I'm working on getting another day off from work to make this happen. I think I can make that work, then I wont have to kill myself getting to Missoula- heck, Spokane is only another 100 miles or so though.

What are you and Flybox planning?
