Hi everybody!
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:57:25 PM »
Hello all. I've been lurking about for a couple weeks now and I figured I may as well take the plunge and make myself official.
I'm here in Eugene, OR, where if things continue on their current trend weather-wise, the riding season this year looks like it's going be about two weeks long. Which at this point is fine, as the new project I've found myself in the midst of is currently, not-so-slowly taking over my garage like some unholy, grease covered, mechanized blob.
Roundabout way of saying I've purchased what was a mostly functional '73 cb750.  The previous owner(s) had given it a kind of half-a**ed cafe treatment. Bump stop, drag bars, and some really suspect hand-hammered knee inserts on the tank. Other than that and a cheesy paint job, everything appears to be somewhat stock from a mechanical standpoint.
Long story short, my intention is to tear it down and resurrect it as a bare bones, dirty, rat-style, no nonsense cafe bike. Full disclosure, this is my first major bike project. Prior to this, I've driven sport bikes, so apart from the occasional oil change or chain lube, not a lot of wrenching as far as bikes were concerned.  So be prepared for a good deal of stupid questions and probably a fair amount of laughter at my expense.
  Cheers.  ;)

Hey Zombi, I'm new here myself, and I've been looking at purchasing a 73' cb750 as well.  The one I am looking at is in pretty rough shape, i'm just working on the details now with the current owner and hopefully get it at a pretty good price.  I'm looking forward to your build.  Good luck!

Hi everybody; new here to. Running a 79CB650, stock engine with stock pd50 carbs. Had it for 4 years now; my second CB650 as the first one died; now a parts bike, love the bike; been checking things out on here through links on google whenever i was researching something; so i finally decided to join. Add-on: Veeter  trunk and hard saddlebags; great for work and a few tools. Trunk will carry a full face helmet. Previously the machine had a set of mid 70's cb750 carburetors with the side lever choke. They run but need a good cleaning if i rev it up past 8000rpm. Other than the usual swapping out of plugs, wires and oil changes; only real job was a clutch swap.

Another shot: how do i add more than one pic per posting? This was before i removed the fairing. Always pays to have a parts bike on hand!
