He's got a small part in Tommy Lee Jones movie "3 burials"
Plays an old blind man out in west texas.

  I'm kinda surprised at how little discussion there's been about Levon here. He was a consummate artist that followed his own path rather than an orchestrated one set forth by the music "Industry". He was an incredibly talented musician, singer, songwriter and actor. He didn't get in front of the camera very often but when he did he was lights out. This scene from "Shooter" was possibly his finest moment on the big screen. He is not Levon Helm playing a very knowledgeable crafty old gunsmith...he IS a knowledgeable crafty old gunsmith. When I first saw this movie I didn't realize it was him until the credits rolled...

   This is from 4 years ago. He was already in bad health but just look how happy and into the music he was. They don't make 'em like this anymore...You will be missed brother.

Hey Mike,

When I saw the posting on Levon's site concerning his relapse and imminent death, I posted under this thread:

I had always loved the Band, seen them play in a rotation for 2-3 days at Watkins Glen( a little foggy on the details now for a couple of reasons), and then watched Levon and Rick Danko gigs following the Bands break-up. I admired Levon's musicianship and energy to keep on making music.
I'm sorry I never made it to a ramble over at the barn.

I read some obit that said he was buried in the Woodstock cemetary, next to Rick Danko. Kind of interesting?

Awesome performance, liked the part about the grassy knoll knowledge dispensing.
