What I had planned was to leave Denver Saturday and stay somewhere in Craig. Then ride back to Denver on Sunday.

Which route are you planning on traveling from Denver to Craig? I'm thinking about booking a room at estes park so maybe we could meet you and the other riders at some point in between. if that doesn't work we could possibly stay in Denver (I'm still waiting to hear from my cousin about going to his place). do we know who is planning on riding all the way to Craig? i think Coke might be along for the ride up there.

Ok, I know this is going to sound just crazy, but the wife and I may not have anything to do for Memorial day holiday after all..  so if we don't, we are thinking about hauling my V-Rod up to Nebraska or Colorado and I can ride with you guys and she can pull trailer along behind.  I would bring the 360F but the chain has stretched to the limit and I don't think I could get on and get it on in time with grand daughter ball games and work  and honey do lists ... I would ride the Glide but the wife hasn't ever gone that long and she doesn't want to go this far for the first longer ride.  anyone have a problem with me riding along on a Harley if I can make it?

More than likely I'll be on my Fat Boy so you know I think it's OK ;)

Apex, I'll leave the bags on my Fat Boy so we can carry some oil on a Harley for a Honda LMFAO about that #$%*! I'm thinking that yours is the only SOHC4 that will be riding all the way to Craig! What's your thoughts on meeting up? 78 K550 aka Paul is planning on riding his 84 Wing. I'll stop by and grab him along the way on I-25 somewhere then head to your place/easy meeting place (Terry's maybe?) Time? Not sure yet. Leave here maybe 9am since my daughter is home this week and I'd need to get her situated at a friends. About 3 hours to Estes for me if we don't stop long at Paul's or your place. Another 180 miles to Craig from Estes so I'd say 4 to 5 hours from Estes to be safe. With that in mind a noon meeting/stop at the brew pub then a chilly ride through the park on Trail Ridge Road which is US34 about 2 hours to Granby at US40 then 3 more hours to Craig on US40 with eta ~ 6pm? I still want to check the road report, weather report and motels.

Wes/others,

Estes Park would be a good place to meet up if you're not heading into Denver. You'd probably enjoy a night in Estes Park more than Denver. Very touristy mountain town destination. The local brew pub would be fairly easy to find, meet and have lunch on Sat. We'd be heading into Rocky Mountain Park on US34 from there anyway. Remember - Have warm clothes for that ride and an overnight in Estes!! Right Apex??!! Check the weather channel. Entrance fee too if you don't have a National Parks Pass.

If you do head towards Denver on US34 (it's pretty flat and straight) I-76 would be easy and take you right to Apex and CB650 without going through Denver and we'd all meet up at maybe CB650's OR you could stay on US34 and it will take you right into Estes Park where we'd meet.

That would cover you for Friday night. How many more nights/how much time do you guys have? Once through the Park your routes are VERY limited back to the east. You can either double back for the afternoon or head south on US40 at Granby and maybe stay in Winter Park or Fraser unless you wanted to keep riding. You will have to get on I-70 which can get quite congested on Sundays especially in ski season (it's done). Anyway, we can work on some routing for you guys too. It's always helpful to get the locals involved!

Coke, load those sum#$%*es up. Let's ride some  ;)

Looks like Jerry has a good plan. If you leave at 9:00 that would put you up here at 10:00ish. Maybe a bit later if you stop at Paul's. That sound fine with me. Are you going to be able to do that cb650? If not we can meet up at my place.

Sounding good. Let's wait and see what Wes and company think.

Did a little Craig motel checking last night. $60-$70 is the best so far. Please see what you can find too.

Jerry your plan looks good. we will be staying in Estes Park afterall. If your fine with meeting us there, we'd like to travel part of the way to Craig with you guys. I don't want to commit to the whole thing until I see how the old CB500 does on the way to CO and in the mountains. we plan to stick around colorado till sunday and head out about 5-6 hours before dark. we plan to camp sunday night on the way back to Lincoln.

Hey Coke, you still in? if so where do you want to meetup, Estes Park?

Wes, good. Think about riding to Granby with us or at least Grand Lake on the western edge of the park. From Granby you could head south on US40 through Winter Park and across Berthoud Pass (really nice road and riding) to I-70 or turn around and ride back through RMNP. Going the opposite direction is always a different ride  :) Another option since you'll have some time might be to ride to Kremmling with us and head south on CO9 to Silverthorn, Dillon, Breckenridge. If you stayed at/near Breck you could take the road around the lake to Dillon staying off I-70 then take US6 across Loveland Pass (really nice ride). Get a good night sleep and head east Sunday am on I-70 through Denver. Maybe CB650 would want to meet up and head back part of the way with you on Sunday. Any of the roads on the plains would be good heading home and you could make just as good time as the Interstates. I've been on US6 between Sterling, CO and Holyoke plenty. That'd be a good route home. Been on 34 and 36.

Call me if you have questions. Might be easier? 719-963-3080

Everybody have a great trip. My family lives in Craig Co., and me in Tulsa. Have a brother in Denver, and a brother, two sisters, and a Mom in Craig. Go see the carvings in the city park by the pool. They are fantastic. I will make the trip in July and mebbe pull the 750k7. Am looking forward to meeting Proto while up there. Be safe!

Yeah Man! I would be glad to meet up in Craig. I'm also considering coming over Friday night so I could ride over Trail Ridge Road with you guys. It has been over 20 years since I last rode that road. I'll try to make a decision tonight and firm up the plans with you here. Looking forward to getting up on the pegs with everyone again!

My friend (Deceptibong on the forum) and his GF will be along for the trip. He will be riding his new Triumph not his SOHC4 so it looks like Lefty will be cruising on my handle bars all the way to CO.

Update: Estes Park motel room for Friday night, booked!

the plan is that we are going to leave David City Nebraska Thursday around noon. were going to travel hwy 34 through southern Nebraska, camping at Swanson Lake near McCook Nebraska Thursday night. We are going to travel HWY 34 the rest of the way to Estes Park CO on Friday and plan to be there in the early afternoon. I booked a room in Estes Park Friday night. Meeting the CO crew (in Estes?) I was using the RMNP website to check temps at tree line and the got up to 75 today. They were at 38 though at 7:30 this morning. I know it'll be cold (right Jerry!!) but at least at the hour we are heading that way it should be warmer. Here is the link, for those who want to check it out.

I will be standing by here in Craig.  Trying to get a roof put on the house and have been putting in some long days.  Hope to have it all done by this weekend.

Craig has a variety of hotel/motels ranging from fancy to plain ugly.  I usually recommend the Bear Valley Inn to people looking for a clean, reasonable room.  It is located on the east end of town, first motel on your right as you enter town.  There are a few other smaller ones along the main route  as you head west (US 40).  Once you hit the west edge of town, you will see the upper end places, ie: Holiday inn, Super 8 etc.  There are around 4 Hotels on the west edge of town.

Recommended hangouts:  O.P. Bar and grill which is the first bar/grill on your left as you enter town.  J.W. Snacks Bar/Grill is also a good place and it is the second bar/grill on your left, about three blocks past the O.P.  The Holiday Inn also has a decent bar.  Village Inn for breakfast, Mexican restaurants scattered throughout the town.

I'll p.m. you with my cell phone #.

Ride Safe!

All good news. Weather looks to be fantastic. Sunscreen time.

Current likely CO line up includes myself, Apex (Craig), 75 k550 (Paul), GJ Steve traveling to Craig with the NE crew dropping off along the way. Sounds fun. **UPDATE** CB650 possibilty also!!

Tentative meeting place for lunch Sat http://www.epbrewery.com/ Noonish

Enjoy Estes Park and RMNP Friday. Watch out for the elk herd!! They may be wandering and grazing around town. They'll seem seriously tame but that's only because it's their place not ours. The RMNP Pass should cover you for 7 days for $10 per motorcycle person. Where did you make reservations? Stanley Inn if you want to see ghosts!

Jerry Craig we missed the snow this year by a few days.  Snowing on the divide right now.    ;D  Still not 100% I'll be going but looks like I will go.  Work said I can. Some one buy me a beer fast to think about it.  ;D
FYI if everybody can get going and hold out there used to be a bar in grand lake that had good buffalo burgers.
News is reporting a bike pulled over at the tunnels.  Steve? ;D
Will just go to estes after work Saturday morn and find a park or someplace quiet to sleep a few hrs.

Buffalo burgers at grand lake sounds great. do we all want to meet at Estes brewery Saturday for food? if not our crew will plan to grab brunch in Estes before the CO crew rolls in. we could all do lunch at grand lake later then.

Let's still plan on meeting at the brewpub and decide from there. I'm shooting for noon but have to farm out my 15yo before I can leave. Teenagers! I'll try to make it by noon, hoping so anyway.

I still have to work out the details on the ride up.

Paul, where is an easy place to meet along I-25? What exit would be good for you? We'll figure out a time.

Craig, what works for you? In and out situation hopefully. Just trying to get to Estes by noon  :) How much time do you think we need from meeting up with you? I'm thinking I-25 then either 66 or 34 to bypass Boulder?

Terry, they have beers at brewpubs! See you there.
