Got an offer for my bike... first time
« on: June 15, 2006, 10:26:25 AM »
I went to a restaurant for lunch. A young couple were sitting at the table by the window and when I came into the restaurant, he asked me what year my bike was. I finished eating just after them and he was outside checking out the bike and asked me a bunch of questions about it. They left and he came back around in his truck and handed me a note...
" * * wants your bike. If you want to sell, call me at ***-**** " :)
The bike is still a little rough looking, I've been busy riding and working on mechanical parts of it. Makes me feel good knowing someone else thinks it's cool too! The man has good taste and isn't looking for a HD like everyone else around here seems to want, he wants an old Honda.

Another guy who wants my bike is like another guy who wants my wife.  Sure they're both nice-looking and a blast to ride, and I take it as a compliment, but I'll be damned if some other dude is gonna come in after the fact and take advantage of all the hard work I've put into either of them! >:( ;D ;D

please don't let my wife see this :-*

I've had a couple people leave me notes on my cafe'd 350 twin asking if I'd be interested in selling - I'm not but its still a nice compliment to receive and its good to know that there are people out there who really appreciate these old bikes as much as we do. ;)

I get irritated with these people. They're lazy IMO. My response is usually, "No- get your own, like I did."  They're just trolling for a bargain.

I agree. There is nothing personal in that. Kinda like when you buy a 30,000 chopper someone else created from the ground up. While I get that we can't all be that creative, it still kills me for some reason. Get off your lazy arse and do it yourself!

I've done that a couple of times. My only purpose is that the owner keeps my phone so I got phoned first once he has decided to sell. Both times I was called. In one of the occasions I had changed my mind (didn't want a Kawa anymore) and in the second we didn't reach a deal (it was a cool looking moped but the seller asked way too much).

I'm not interested in selling. The potential buyer probably wouldn't pay what I've put into it anyway but I take it as a compliment.

But how will he know? Maybe next month you are short of money and decide to get rid of it. You have nothing to loose by asking.

Talking about wives, I've always said that I don't think it's bad manners to try to get laid with a married woman. If you are single and you like a woman, even when she's married, you have the right to try. If she is happy with her relationship she will reject you. End of the story. But how would you know? maybe she's unhappy.  If she decides to have an affair, that's something she should have to discuss with her husband, not you.

The same applies about what I've just said if you swap "him" for "her". When you want something you have to ask.

Yeah, me too mate, when someone emails me and says "Hey, I want to buy one of your oil cooler kits" I say "piss off and make yer own, you lazy prick!" (not)  ha ha! Cheers, Terry.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
