RD200 yammy 2 cyl s stroke points plate.
« on: May 01, 2012, 02:58:15 PM »
I found a Yamaha RD200 (under 2,000 miles)  that was left with the points plate off, everything is rusted. My local independent shop can't find one any ideas?

O yeah 4/72 build date.

Where I live now doesn't have anything...so ,like I've done..Ebay.
I Have a pair of NOS points for an RD350, but I can't seem to find a cross reference to see if they'll fit you're RD200.You'll need to remove the Alternator cover and clean out the rings on the stator and clean up the brushes, etc. You should be able to use the plate...unless it's really a rusty mess.

It's apparently not an RD although it looks like a small RD350. I didn't buy it yet but was doing the legwork before making an offer. Don't know why someone would leave the cover off and let it corrode.

I'll need to go back and look again. it's at a friends garage, I think it belonged to his brother. I didn't realize how many parts are in there. It is a 200 W/ electric specified on the side cover. Must mean electric start.

I've seen a couple blue RD200's and they had electric start..,I dont know why anyone would need electric start on a twin cyl. 200cc 2 stroke; They kick over real easy.

I had a sister-in law that couldn't start her small honda. My brother would jump off his bike and snap the kicker with his hand. There are people that shouldn't ride.
