Intro Post - Finally jumping in
« on: April 22, 2012, 05:22:50 AM »
Great site.  I've been wandering through it for a couple of months now learning what I can from the info already on the forum.  A couple of months ago, after some serious searching, I found a '77 CB550F that I'm working on restoring.  It wasn't in the best of shape, but seemed to be "all there" for the most part.  Best of all, it moved under it's own power, and had a valid "title".   I've been slowly dismantling it, cleaning, refurbishing or looking for replacement parts, if needed, as I go.   My plan is to restore it back to "stock" more or less.  I may deviate slightly with some of the chrome work, as I really don't want to spend to money of re-chroming any of the parts (a little pricey :o).  I may opt to have some of the chrome pieces powder coated.   Anyway, I have the bike dismantled down to just the Frame, wheels and motor.  Everything else is pretty much off the bike.  The rest will come off the bike in the next month or so.  I envision that this project will take a good year or so to complete.  My biggest fear is hoping I can put it all back together, but that's the fun of it ;D.

Welcome. Just make sure you have downloaded the manual and take plenty of pictures. Plenty of help here if you need it.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Getting the manuals was one of my first tasks.  I have them all.  I also have been taking photos as I've been disassembling along with taking some notes.  Here's what I started with.  Gotta love the seat and backrest :D.  Not the greatest picture but you get the idea.
