Camshaft custom grind question..lift & duration choices.
« on: April 22, 2012, 12:44:30 PM »
I want to have a custom camshaft ground for my little CB350 twin.I'd like to keep it as close to stock specs as I can so I can keep 90% of the low-mid range power band as the Original Honda camshaft has.Megacycle sells a very mild cam..I don't know the specs of the O.E.camshaft but I do for the mild Megacycle camshaft.I'm considering going w/ a bit more duration but not really much more lift than Stock.
Has anyone here had a custom camshaft ground for mild street use..? I enjoy mid-range power but just don't want to sacrifice the great 7-9500rpm top end blast of the stock camshaft.
                                    Any Idea's ?

I'll be running O.E. carbs./air filters and Exhaust..it'd be nice to have maybe 5% more than the Stock camshaft has.The Megacycle mild street camshaft is really more than I wanted..,it's about 1/2-3/4 Race grind. Who here has had a custom grind done in a similar manner ?

I know those early CB350K cams are higher rpm topend cams but I like more midrange & I'm trying to figure out the best way to have my stock camshaft built up and then custom reground so I can have most of the power in midrange- 3/4+ rpm power band...,from about 4500-9750 rpm & still have it pulling strong at 9500 rpm.The stock cam that's in it will pull nice at all the right rpm's & I just want maybe 5-10% more of the mid-upper rpm's.
I also wondered if any of you have installed a very mild camshaft in a CB350K Twin such as a Megacycle # 123-00 which is they're mildest street camshaft and have used it w/ stock exhaust & carbs & filters.I asked on that Honda twins forum, but nobody ever answers me  :(

Be easier to regrind your stock cam, I am thinking... IU had a.. I think Kenny Harmon cam in my 350.. actually 360cc.
. it would rev to about 13 or 14,000 RPM..

I understand 754,
I'd like to have my stock camshaft reground..but I'd rather not have it rev to 13-14K;just more mid-top end pull will work great...something very mild.I'm looking for a "close to stock" set of specs to give to the camshaft grinders as far as lift & duration #'s.  :)
