valve stuck could short pipes cause this?

The popular opinion was that you could warp a valve by sucking cold air back up the pipe. Myth or real? I was amazed when I put the o2 sensor on my race car how much fresh air comes back in the pipe between pulses. More likely carbon from running rich or fuel deposits from the junk gas we get. It you can get it loose you might try marvel mystery oil in it. Used to work on flatheads. read the label.

The reason I ask is I recently had a valve get stuck open on my 350f break off and f things up.
Im about to put a different engine in and i dont want it happening again.
The valves had never been replaced so it was 40 years of running so that could have been it too.
