My brother and his wife are both pro mtb racers, I race cat1/open pro, I do race cross and rode but not as much. I raced downhill as a semipro, but it's was cheaper to start racing motocross.... My rides are a Serotta Ottrott SE and I have the first kbedford Ti 29er mtb as my race machine(it's on his website) I post on the old Serotta forum now paceline.

Having Kelly teach me was like learn the ride street bikes from Rossi.

And bicycles are beautiful. They are what shaped the progression of the motorcycle. Without bikes, who knows what our cb would look/ride like.

I'm just a fat old dude who likes getting out on a bike for fun - never raced other than doing a few Gran Fondos for fun.  I live in downtown Toronto and my bike is my primary transportation for about 9 months/year.

And bicycles are beautiful. They are what shaped the progression of the motorcycle. Without bikes, who knows what our cb would look/ride like.

And there are very, very few motorcycles on the planet that are finished to the same standard of perfection & beauty as bicycles like those kbedfords.  Even $30,000 motorcycles have ugly welds and untidy harnesses that would be considered unacceptable on a $2,000 bicycle.

That car is radical, but wireless shifter?  I make my living designing and building software, and as a result I deal with a fair bit of hardware stuff, and let's just say that I'd need a lot of convincing before I'd feel comfortable sending my shift signals over open air in an 800hp car.  Hell, I still haven't totally resigned myself to the drive-by-wire throttle on my motorcycle...

I love racing, this years a bust thought... Shoulder surgery..... But last year I did race a full season.... Some local series, the canada cup series.... And the Leadville 100.
My sister in law is racing the world cup at mount sainte Anna  this week end.

The paddles are on a quick release steering wheel, there's no way into the car with it on. They are an extra, as the shifter is still there.(automatic) its kind of like tiptronic.

Beautiful bike, love lugged frames.

The frame & fork are magnificent.  I kind of want to hang a framed picture of the fastback seat stays on my wall at home.   The stuff I've done to it, though, makes it a kind of dorky socks-and-sandals build.  It's too slow to be a racer, too fast to be a commuter, too aggressive to be a great tourer, but it's a very nice compromise as a no-worries bike to just ride anywhere, anytime.

I'm very happy with how it works.  I feel a bit ashamed of putting that awful twist shifter on the end of the drop bars, but it's mega-nice to use - second best to good brifters IMO.  Also, putting 25mm Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires on something that should have 23mm slicks isn't morally right but they work great and at this rate it seems like they'll last forever.  The 36h 3x Velocity Deep V's are heavy and slow, but then again - so am I.  And I've been abusing the hell out of those wheels for about 1000 miles and they're still perfectly straight & true.

Last tweak the bike needs is some new dropouts.  The stockers are vertical with 8mm fore-aft adjustment, but the tallish tires eat up about 5mm of that adjustment, and I just can't keep chain tension correct with the IGH setup.  I've designed some replacements that are horizontal - not super-pretty, but I'll paint 'em flat black and hope nobody notices.  I tried to make a set, but using a drill press and hand tools, my meager skills weren't enough to get the tolerances close enough.

Groovy.  I'd worry about interference, but I'm paranoid because so much of my job is about computer stuff that doesn't work the way it should.

I've always wanted a vintage cafe bike..... My buddy is in the scrap business and I found the 77 in a dumpster......figured it was a waste of a good motorcycle.

I love my duc, but there's something about building something and being able to ride it that makes it special..... A lot of my influence for the cb comes from all my projects.... And my other motorcycles.

 I am a balloon bike guy myself, love the looks of some of them.. got gobs of bicycle memorabilia, from late 1800s to the fifties... very cool stuff. When I was 16 worked in a shop the owners buddy drove a TVR.. he got killed in a accident ..maybe in that car.. I think there is one more still running around here.
 I machined some suspension parts a few years back for a German car with 3 letter name.. cant remember it now.. very limited production.. does not start with a "B"..
 Got to build a lower 20mm axle clamp for a Marz fork today, and a billet seat post part...
 I run Schwalbe Fat franks.. gotta love tires with your name on them...

The S2R is very nice, too - my wife rocks an M620 in bright red, I like that bike so much I'm leaning pretty heavily towards a 796 or 1100 EVO for myself, but I've already had a 90-degree twin, 2 singles, and an I4, so I think I should do a triple next.

The 1100 motor is amazing.... I'm just not a fan of the new styling.... I bought the last year(08) for the s2r1000.... And it's perfect in every way.

My wife hates the new styling, and I used to - but it has really grown on me over the years.

My wife is about the same size as yours, but I think she's a bit shorter of limb.  We lowered her bike as much as we could without hurting clearance (about 1"), and added thicker soles to her boots (about another 1.5").  Now she finds the reach to the bars to be too long, and the pegs to be too high (plus her boot doesn't fit under the shifter anymore).  So we're getting some lowering pegs from Knight and having some custom risers fabbed up to bring the bars up and back.

I asked her if she wants to keep going with fitting the Monster to her, or if we should get her a CBR250 (she has a 125 that she likes a lot, but it's not enough for safe highway riding) and mod the hell out of it (exhaust, PC, cartridge forks & Elka shock). Her answer: "I think that 250 would work great and do everything I need in a bike... But then the story would always be about how I used to have a Ducati."

That was one of many moments when I knew I had married the right girl.   Although I was looking forward to sneaking some rides on a heavily-modded CBR250.

I made all new linkages in hers, then went to the newer s2r forks(inch shorter than stock), bike is low but stills handles great....feel like a pro dragging peg... The biggest thing was pulling the seat cover and using a cheese grater to cut down the seat..... It's about an inch shorter, and a bunch narrower. Pulled back bars and it fits perfect.

Ha ha, it's awesomely dangerous fun! Oh, and there's some SOHC4 content in it, the layshaft is a CB750 front axle!
