New to the forum....not the planet.

Hello all, thanks for the forum, the info and the therapy. So... I took on one of these WTF am I thinking projects. It's a 72 cb500 four basket weaving course. I'm not even sure I have enough medication for this. Anyway...so far I have ebayed the crap put of my account looking for and finding close to the parts needed to weave a great basket. New harness, headlight and bucket(which is a great word for it), all other lights, battery and other parts that a real motorcycle  should have including handlebar controls, which were all de-wired for some reason. I can only presume that the sheepherder I bought it from did not need turn signals. The sheep knew where they were going.

So with all the turn lights, headlight h/l, neutral and hi beam indicators working, I still have yet to get the oil light and the tach and speedo to light up. Also the start button does not choose to function at this time. The controls are from newer bikes(of course, why would it be easy?)  I have reviewed Oldman honda wiring diagrams and still don't get anywhere but running out of fuses. The right hand has only start and kill and the left has all light control with turn, horn and hi/lo only. I know that with eleven wires coming from the left, there may be a connection or two not compleated. The tach and speedo power go thru there(brown-wht). The other side has the h/l off when starting then back on again after. I would like to wire it that way. It was three years ago when I bought l/r controls for replacements. I know this may not be much info at this time but if you ask maybe I can answer better. The start relay works but not thru the switch yet. Shorting it and the starter works also. I have come long way but not a happy ending yet. I have'nt even started on the carbs yet....more medication. Any help to resolve wiring issues would be cool.

Thanks
