Hello from Calgary
« on: April 26, 2012, 06:52:01 AM »
Hello to all you single over-heads :)
Just want to say hi to everyone. Cant wait to surf this forum as it seems to have so much info on these awesome bikes.
Originally I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and now I live in Calgary, AB.
This weekend I'm picking up my very first motorcycle. Its going to be a project over the next month or so. (living in calgary you never know when it will snow and we usually get couple of dumps in april and may :) )
Bike Im getting is a 1976 CB550F. Im picking it up for $600 from a friend and it needs some love. I also get a box of spare parts to go with it. Since this is my first motorcycle and I kinda have no idea what im doing I will look to you guys and gals for some assistance, I hope you wont mind.
When I pick it up I will post some pics so you can see what the heck I got myself into.

Thank you and enjoy your day,

ps, anyone from calgary?

Vee

I'm up in Edmonton working on a 78 CB750k. Get ready to blow 15% of you budget on shipping costs from the States alone! Good luck with your build, I'm having a blast with mine :)

im hoping to source out most parts locally.
Edmonton is cool, Every time i went up there I had a great time. :) Also, I like the layout of that city, especially downton and the park below by the river. I did a lot of cycling there.

Sweet deal. I do go to Okanagan valley every year. Penticton and Kelowna are awesome. Who knows maybe I get to ride my CB downthere this summer and then you are on for a cruise.

Quick update...

Picked up the bike this week :) It took a bit longer to get it due to some crap but its in my back yard now.  :D
Doesnt run since someone ripped up all the electrical to try and make it into a racer... and gave up lol
Basically it looks all stock. Couple of things missing... OEM Air box and the battery.
I decided to tear it all down and see what it looks like from the inside. This is my first bike so I want to learn everything on it.
Im giving my self a month to finish it. (Is this crazy talk for a noob?)

Pics are on the way :)
