Shifting issues
« on: April 24, 2012, 04:14:57 PM »
Hey guys looking for some advice on my transmission on my k3, Ive read everyone's issues but still cannot find anyone with my same symptoms.

Heres some back info, the case has never been split runs great leaks no oil and compression is right on the money. The last thing i did before this started happening was tighten the change as it was clanking a bit.

Here's my issue, My bike shifts into first fine and shifts into second fine but when i try to shift into 3rd its rock solid. Heres where it differs from everyone else's
issues, if i stop and force it down with my hand and back up all gears work fine, sometimes for even a couple of days. Ive noticed that i can also get into gear fine if i bring it up to about 6500 rpm.

Any ideas? Id hate to split the cases to get to the gear box, has my clutch cable loosend? I tried tightening it but it just allowed the clutch to slip and its as loose as it can be on both ends..

I had this problem on my old Kwak, I don't know if it's relevent. Broken gear lever return spring.

You just jogged my memory. I found a broken spring in my parts box and wondered what it was. :)

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

So i rode the bike around more today and have discovered a couple more things about whats going on. I can get the bike to up shift fine with some finesse But when i down shift into any gear but first it pops out into a false neutral.  I pulled the clutch cover tonight and inspected the mechanism and it seems to be spot on. im pretty sure i have found my issue. The shifter drum is what seems to be catching up and now allowing me into 3rd when it begins acting up. im gonna change the oil since i drained it and put it back together and see if that changes anything. Any other ideas guys?

Well guys i inspected the case and found a little treasure in my case cover.. i dont know how i didnt see it hanging out in there before, but atleast i found it before i gave up on it. The plate stopper had broken in half and wasnt doing anything.. luckily i can pick it up at the honda shop tomorrow for next to nothing.
