New pony in the stable.......
« on: April 27, 2012, 07:31:20 AM »
Just picked this up last night.  '72 CB750K2 with 21K.  Bought from the original owner.  Been sitting in the garage since '99. All original. Needs a DEEP cleaning and polishing, fork boots and airbox and she's ready to roll.  Oh and a front caliper flush.  Definite barn find at a killer price!

Reminds me of a Muddy Waters song. "You got another mule kick'n in the stall."

Sorry that was "Long Distance Call"

Looks like it's in pretty decent shape overall.  Did you find that out on your end of the state?

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Ok....ok....I'll tell you.  I think I got it for a good price, but maybe not everyone will agree.  $1300 and a little elbow grease for a sweet ride.

Oh, and Cvalero, yes a little lucky, but I spent weeks scouring CL obsessively.  Guy had 8 people email him within hours.  I just happen to leave him my phone number :).

awesome find!  congrats :)    sounds like a good price to me.  the manual labor of intensive polishing is free, after all - lol.

i need to move somewhere with more barns and/or fewer seasons.  everything you find here in OH that has been "forgotten about" is in grim shape today unless it was in an attached garage or something.

what was he asking?

He was asking $1500.  I offered him 1k at first ( a little ashamed at myself for doing so  :-[), but he wouldn't budge beyond $1300.  I happily gave it to him. :)

I'd say you did well!  Original tank, side covers and pipes go a long way for these bikes, and they all look NICE!

After restoring a rusty wreck, I'd gladly pay a little more for one with fewer rusty bolts and holes in the frame. you bought well.

I agree.  I paid $1900 for my '76 that I'm at the tail end of restoring.  It was in much worse shape, mainly frame rust issues.  Never know what you can find out there, and what people are willing to sell it for.  Diamonds in the rough all over the place.  Just have to keep those eagle eyes large.

Granted NH has its share of barns, but I see a lot of gems in other areas of the country.  Every time I do a search, I see some real nice bikes out in Michigan and other mid-west states.  I would keep on it.  The majority of the good stuff i see is out in the mid-west region.  Not willing to drive that far myself, but if you're there, well.....hey...

An O.E. Original from the original owner..and in that Shape ! a garaged Beauty !!
I feel like we really do have it made here in the U.S. w/ SO many nice bikes out hiding in the barn shadows  ;). I'd love to find a green CB550k0-K1 Barn find in my near future w/ all original parts on it like your's has.I noticed the thread of "another Carolina barn find" just last week here & it was a gem also.
