Harsh I saw in one of your post you thought what you needed was a set of 77-78 750 K spokes.I explained the whole hub and wheel mixtures and that the 77/78 750K spokes are what I believe I need.  He agreed   Is this the wheel and hub you have? I ask because that is what I have 78 750K 17'' wheel. lippy posted where to get them. I know you need to follow this through now. But why are they having such a hard time making them when you can still find NOS? Your wheel does not look like my 2.50x17'' DID wheel.

My hubs is from a 1974 750K.  My wheel is is from a 1975 GL1000.  From what I have read the 77/78 750K 17" wheel is identical to the GL wheel that I have except that the K wheel is steel and the GL wheel is aluminum.  Regardless I have informed them of exactly what I have.

I just got off the phone with Angel and he tells me that there is no way the spokes will bottom out in the nipple and that once the nipple gets past the threads it will fall right through.  It sounded strange to me so I tested it with an uninstalled spoke and nipple.  As I thought it bottomed out.

I was trying to lace the wheels with just the outside spokes when he called.  I got the same results with having to press down on one side to get them in the wheel dimples.  With just the outside spokes on the hub is pretty much centered on the wheel.  However, the spokes don't protrude the same distance through the wheel.  The drive side nipples barely touch the inside of the wheel yet the brake side are almost touching the dimples on the inside of the wheel. (last pic)

Angel mentioned something to the effect that if for some reason I can't get the wheel to lace up correctly that I could send it to them and they would do it at a special rate.  I fear it may come down to that, but if it does I will talk with Kennie (VP) again and see what kind of deal they are willing to work out.  I figure it will set me back somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 to send them my wheel & hub.  So my $270 spokes will now cost me $325 (I spent $5 sending back the first set of spokes).

Slight bend in the outside spokes

Inside/outside spoke (with all spokes installed).  Inside spokes are bottomed out

Is the actual bend right? Or is the length off? I can mail them a stock spoke if you need the bend angle.

At this point I am not sure.  I find it very weird that with just the outside spokes installed that they extend vastly different lengths through the wheel.

A little update.  I just got off the phone with Angel and I am going to send in my wheel/hub.  They are going to cut & bend the spokes to fit and loose lace the wheel for no additional extra charges.

I am happy about that, but unhappy knowing that it is going to cost me another $50 or so in shipping charges.

Just wanted to provide an update.

I just received my loose laced wheel (nice b-day present) back from Buch's.  Everything is laced and looks good.  Reading the notes on the work order they had to cut 1/4" off of each spoke and then re-thread them.

The frustration of having to deal with the back and forth stuff was more than I planned and/or bargained for.  However, at the end of the day everything worked out so I am happy.

I have quite a few sets of wheels with broken spokes but many of the spokes are good and would like to reuse.  Is there a problem with this or re coating with zinc?

In the bicycle world I would never re-use spokes (I've built a hundred wheels or so). The stress of tensioning, de-tensioning, then re-tensioning is bad for the spokes. The fact that you already have broken spokes is also worrysome...

On another note, I had Buchannon make me spokes to fit a front Sportster hub and a Goldwing rim with good results. Guess I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the rear.
