Not My Rig

             I found this pic of a 750 w/ sidecar that is similar to what mine will look like but, it's not mine.
      I thought I'd post it in my avatar. The sidecar is very much like mine and my bike is an 80' CB750K. 
      I've still gotta get tires, put my headlight together, get the carburetors cleaned, put the sidecar
      on and go practice. Soon as I get the rig ready, I'll try to get some pictures to post for those who
      are interested.   Later on,   Bill

Nice.  I hear there's a whole new set of skills required to handle a 'chair'.

I'm curious about getting one eventually.  I was just goofing around on ebay and saw this one.  Looks like something you'd see on the salt flats.

I think you're right!  All that needs is a rocket engine mounted in the back and you're ready for the land speed record! ;D ;D

A guy down the street got a URAL last summer..a Russian copy of like a '36 BMW with a sidecar...cool thing is, it's got a driveshaft that goes to the wheel on the sidecar, which you can engage with a lever on the side of the bike, so if you get into difficult terrain, you can have 2 wheel drive in the back! The first time I saw a picture of one was in a magazine, of this guy riding in the snow!
Last summer, I looked up as he took aright hand turn onto our street. The sidecar came off the ground, and he balanced it an rode it like that the full length of the street!

     tsflstb,         That is quite an unusual rig alright. Makes me wonder if the motor has been given a little
                   boost to power that thing. Yeah, it definitely is going to take a little while and lots of
                   practice to get used to taking the bike/sidecar combo down the road and around the
                   corners (especially right hand corners.)

        ces,          I've seen the Urals online and in magazines but, that's all. That would be handy to be
                   able to have the extra wheel driving in times of need. And, for the record, I plan on
                   keeping all 3 wheels on the ground.

        UncleErnie clued me in to a website for sidecars rigs and there is a faq on them also. I'm trying to
    get set up so I can safely get this thing out on the road. My wife and I work with a couple of
    "special needs"  young men and the one I work with, James is who I'm doing this for and when
    he's not with me, I'll use it with or w/out the sidecar. Of course, it'll really help with the gas
    situation.

My brother in law had a sidecar on his 1982 cb750 and
strangely enough, sold it to a man whose kid had some
special needs that didn't allow him to ride on the back of
the bike.
Laugh at least once a day.

I looked into getting a side car for one of my 750s a few years back.   Most of the sites I visited warned against using the steel wheels on my F bikes as they couldn't take the side loads (cracking).  The information said that only spoked wheels could take it, as they would loosen but not break.  Has this recommendation changed?  Are the wheels different for the 80 750?

             Michel,  That's cool 8)!  James is wheelchair and I've got the intentions of either mounting
     an aluminum channel between the bike and the sidecar or across the back of the rig, getting a
     lower priced folding wheelchair and mounting it on the track (just for trips on the rig).

           TwoTired, my 80' 750 is a "K" and has spoke wheels. Maybe I didn't mention that. The
     sidecar, that I have, was 1st mounted on a SOHC CB750K (don't remember the year right off)
     and was put on an early Gold Wing. My 80' CB750K will be the 3rd bike for it to be mounted to.
     I plan on setting it up ( with a lot of help from my buddy, that I bought it from) on the 750 so
     that pins can be removed and easily separate them when I want to use just the bike.

Twotired- see what they say at www.sidecar.com.  I don't know what kind of wheels you have, but spoked wheels are probably marginally better because they give some. That said, I have mags and haven't had any emergencies because of that yet.

       UncleErnie, I'll be sure to keep a close eye on it and will get a "proper" tire soon as I can. I'll probably keep the sidecar rig together for quite some time actually. Besides, I figure (from what I've heard here and on sidecar.com) I'm gonna need lots & lots of practice with that one!  Once I get it setup and operating as a unit, I'll hopefully be turning my attention back to my 77' CB550K Cafe/Custom/Whatever Project. When I DO get it on the road, I'll definitely need to pay attention to which one I'm on and ride it accordingly. Thanks for the responses guys, I gotta run for now.  Bill
