handlebar wiring
« on: April 28, 2012, 01:19:01 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm piecing together a 750K4 and I believe my handlebar wiring/controls are not matching up with my harness. I have the wiring diagram and for the most part, it's pretty straight forward. I'm hoping you can shine some light on the wiring that is not matching up or at least let me know what the colours represent. I've been scratching my head for hours and feel completely lost.

Cheers
Daniel

Left Handlebar Switch.
Mystery Wire one: Female Black/Red. Goes hot if I set running lights to ON
Mystery Wire two: Female Brown/Black. Goes hot if I set running lights to ON
Mystery Wire three: male Yellow/white. No change, regardless on running light position. never hot
Mystery Wire four: male Yellow. No change, regardless on running light position. never hot

Right Handlebar Switch:
Blk/wht. I figure this is typically for power to the coils. but why is it coming from the right handlebar switch?

Coming of the main harness:
Brown/Red. no idea

Without looking at the schematic, the black with white stripe is returning from the kill switch on its way to the cols....it goes in the kill switch as black.

Can you post a picture of the actual handle bar controls?  That will help determine if you have to correct switches.

I am assuming the harness is a K3-6. The bike is being pieced together.

Without looking at the schematic, the black with white stripe is returning from the kill switch on its way to the cols....it goes in the kill switch as black.

thanks, I had the kill switch all set up. The blk/wht wire is on the left control, whereas the kill switch is on the right.

Ok, back from this weekend's swap meet with a $2 switch. It doesn't have a starter, but mine was messed up anyways, and it also looks like i'll have hi/lo on the left and on this right i'll have an off hi/lo. ah well. i'll figure out a way to make the left the starter switch...maybe..

in any case. what are the yellow wire and the white/yellow stripe wire for?

cheers

It's going to get worse if you use dissimilar switches.
