Ty, and sorry for the HUGE delay in response. I actually bought this one as a roller. Tins/frame were painted, wheel/tires installed, motor mounted..Here is a picture of it the day I brought it home..Unwired/plumbed/carb'd with drags/bar ends/blacked out engine..... Took about 3 weeks to get it making HP's as I had never plumbed or wired a bike...the carb install/set up was the tricky part in the end...took a while for me understand carb principles and adj...alot of reading on here:) Ideas....ALWAYS powdercoat the frame...Always spend the extra 15minutes prepping your welds/finish before powdercoat..lol ALWAYS keep your stock/donor bike VIN tag.neck for auto reg/compliance, otherwise your bike will be subject to current inspection standards.....Make a wiring harness!! I ran the wires 1 by 1 and checked them off as I went...then grouped them together with wire loom/stays. It's not by anymeans perfect..but it works. Biggest learning for me..rear fender set up on a hardtail needs more thought than grabbing the tire you want to use and mocking it up...I have learned now that the PO/fender welder..lol Had installed/mocked the rear fender/struts up with a odd sized front tire...yes..a front tire..I didnt notice it until i removed it after it was worn beyond inspection..got 600mi out of the "front-rear tire"..SO, two years after completing this bike my plan is, this winter, removing rear fender/struts and buying a 160/70-17 (nice common rear tire) and installing fender/struts once tire is in position.. Alot of other little learnings as well like, dont wire wheel your rear brake pads too much as they will lock up and cauz major bike damage when your drum brake brace snaps and smashes your rear fender/battery andframe..lol Yeah, I read somewhere for better stopping power you can clean brakes/drums and wire wheel/scuff your pads..so I did this while waiting for my sticky AVON Roadrider to replace my "front-rear" tire (as mentoned) above..Once I put my new tire on with my "refurbed" brakes...wheww..bad story..brake seized as I jammed on them to see how "good" they would work now.. Cost me a week more in downtime and 100+ bones to fix everything and replace battery...sigh* This is actually the 2nd CB750 bobber I've "worked on" My borther and I did build a 73 from the ground up...his is a TCbros weld on hardtail..the learnings mentioned above are applicable to his as well..we sort of did them in tandem..his being 7/8 complete when I purchased my roller..His bike came out really nice, was well worth the 4k we invested in it..I have pics of it posted I believe..Oh..and one last thing...Chain clearance on your battery/fender and oil tank, be sure to anticipate chain clearance!!!
