Hello
Daughter had a bithday party to go to yesterday about half an hour from our house.  I got her a full face helmet about two weeks ago for riding her little bike.
I said "I can drop you out to the party on the bike if you like".  It took a while for her to decide but she agreed to go on the bike and she had fun on the back.
Who else puts their kids on the back of the bike.  What does your wife or other half think

My band was playing a show last weekend at a local record store.  My wife and one son were going to a kids birthday party. I mentioned to my wife that I might take my other boy to the record store on my bike. We live in a city and she hasn't been excited about the boys on the bike in traffic. I had to wait until she and the other boy left before we could get on the bike and go. My son was ecstatic. That night he told me it was the greatest day of his life. He is 8, but was born with heart troubles and is developing a little behind other kids. He's a little more like he's 6 years old. Since then I've dropped him off for school a few times and it makes him happier than anything else in his life. Wife is warming up to it, but i think Moms are programmed to not want their children blasting around on antique death traps.

I used to pick my kids up from school on the bike back in the 80's. My wife didn't think there was anything unusual about it.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Good for you Dads!

I was on my fathers bike with him since before I can remember [1983 Honda Magna 750].

A lot of good memories  :)

I can't wait until she wants to come on my regualr Sunday morning with me. 80km of twisty roads, stop for a pie and coffee, visit my grandfather on the way home and still back by 10.30.  Top way to start Sunday

As soon as my kids are tall enough to reach the passenger pegs they'll be riding with me if they want to.  My son (4 yrs) already wants to ride with me, but it will be another year or two before he's big enough.  In the meantime he's content to just sit on the bikes and pretend he's riding them. :)

our boys started riding on the back of our goldwing at ~4 years old. full face helmets, arm rests on the wing to enclose them and provide support.

We were in the Cook Islands when my eldest daughter was 2 and my wife had a gut full of arms and legs (other daughter). I rode with my 2yr old sitting between my pregnant wife and myself.  Not as much traffic over there as in Sydney

My 3 kids love going for a run around my parents property, they have 128 acres so there is plenty of room to move.  I think the youngest was 3 when she first went on the bike.

All 3 of my boys ride with me. They all have helmets and have a good time. It's interesting how they react to different riding situations though. One loves acceleration, another loves it when I corner hard and the third likes cruising along at a lazy pace.
I don't have much money but when each son move out there will be a CB going with him.

Daughter was 3 1/2 on her first ride.  Just a short ride to Grandma's house.

the arm rests and my back support were aftermarket. the arm rests swiveled in and out so pax could get in easier. i would open a side and they'd slide in, then return it to operating position and the wold have pretty firm support on ides; i blocked them in front and trunk / rear seat back did behind. more than once they fell aleep behind me, helmet thumping me in the back.

hope this help.

My Dad took me to preschool back in the day on streetbike, so something must have stuck. My daughters ride regular now with me and my girlfriend. They are 9 and 10 and my oldest for sure loves it, but my youngest I think just doesn't want to be left out. I think she enjoys it, but just not to the extent my oldest does. Both have helmets (one full face and the other is a 3/4 with face shield. Good jeans, good shoes, gloves and jackets are mandatory on our rides as well. Would like to get them some little leather or armored jackets as we have just been using larger coats, but those don't breathe in the heat! I drive like a baby with them on as does my girlfriend and if I think I'm on point when I ride...I have to be damn near psychic with them as far as cagers go. That really mainly is when we have to go through town though. On the back roads seems to be theirs and our favorites. It is truly a passion for me to ride, so if they get to experience that part with me, then perhaps it means more to them later on when they hear or see a motorcycle, they may think of their old Dad.

My daughter (12) has just started coming for rides with me. She had hoped to join me on our Sunday morning coffee runs this summer, but with our dodgy summer they never happened! Next summer!
Our Sunday runs are trips over the Rimutakas to the Wairarapa (85km one way with 14km of twisty bits in the middle) for a coffee and cake back home by 12 in time for me to do my chores!!

We stared slowly the odd trip to school and our first big trip was my leg of the Godzilla Round the world relay. 200km round trip.

My 3 kids, 12, 8 and 5 started out going for rides on the back of my In-laws quad bike and graduated to quiet rides on the back/tank of my bikes.
Funnily enough while my daughter has taken to pillioning really well my middle boy  is not so keen and the youngest boy can't wait

The Wife  is happy with the kids going for rides, as long as we had good riding gear and I am careful!
Mind you back in the day the wife and I did regular trips around the country by bike.

My daughter is only 13 months old, but any time she sees a motorbike she yells out and points to it in excitement. I wonder if a car seat would fit in a side car...

Has anybody ever seen pictures(I'd sure like to upload some :) ) from other parts of the world where the only vehicle they have in the family is a small bore motorcycle ? The father is able to give the entire family a ride on it...all at the same time ! Amazing.
