1975 CB550 Rebuild
« on: April 26, 2012, 11:03:41 AM »
Hey everyone!  Just wanted to pop in and say hello for my first post on here.  Back in 2006 I bought this bike for $50.  Then in 2008 I bought another one for parts for another $50.  Recently, I began tearing this thing down, performing a top end rebuild, and generally painting everything on this thing and not putting anything back on the frame unless its been polished or painted (or both in some cases).  No pictures of the bike before, just trust that this didnt really need to be done (I have been riding it since I bought it, just added a battery and tires/tubes) Here is what I have done so far:  Disassembly, Painted frame, painted engine and polished covers while rebuilding, and last night I recovered the seat.

Welcome to the forums. The seat looks like it came out real nice.

Like seeing that there is an end to this... friends think im crazy but for me its a labor of love.  This CB is my first bike, and my only bike so it being in pieces means i cant ride right now.... oh well i work nonstop on it when i can... speaking of which... gotta go outside

Didnt get too much done this weekend... mostly just hung out with my wife... a lot of painting and polishing.  Tonight, got the engine mounted to the frame.  As you can see the garage has become a haven for parts and trash.. scared to throw anything away until this is all done.
